Would stay away

PSA - I would stay away from this moving company. Deceptive agent and very poor communication/implementation by their contracted movers. My car moving rate increased 20% day of moving (held hostage as was too late to change), and the house rate increased ~30% due to misrepresentation/lack of transparency. The sales agent basically lied to make a sale. They use moving vendors that are highly unprofessional, communicate very poorly, are not transparent inflated costs at the time of moving, don't answer calls, won't honor the contract about unloading at arrival destination. Reached out several times with no resolution. Very poor experience.

Long-distance move from Willow Grove, PA to Haines City, FL

The call for the quote was enough for me!

They are a SCAM. The initial call started out fine but soon turned into a pressure to get some money out of me. The quote went from $10K to 8K and they eventually hung up on me when I insisted on doing my due diligence first before handing over any deposit (especially $4K). They are sharks and went from thanking me for my service to hanging up on me because I wanted to get a few quotes from other companies. Very unprofessional and nasty! PLEASE STAY CLEAR OF THEM AT ALL COST!!

Stay away

These reviews are likely fake, stay far away. This company set me up with another moving company who came and collected everything I owned, and have completely vanished off the face of the earth.

This is most likely a shell company with fake reviews who sets people up to be victims of a scam. If your belongings are worth more than the insurance you buy, expect to never see you things again. Just like me. It is a very popular scam occuring right now, and I have no reason to believe anything different.

They refused to refund any amount of my $2000 + dollars given to them because "they did their part". Their part consisted of literally getting a company to come to my house, pick up everything I own, and then vanish. Its astounding that they believe that is actually what their part of this process entails... they probably dont though, I am sure this is just part of the scam... gotta say certain things just incase legal gets involved.

Horrible, stay away

It all starts with some very nice professional-sounding and bubbly people calling you and assuring you that they will take care of you with the best price and highest quality on the market. What they don't advertise is that they are just a broker whose only involvement is to transfer your order to another company and have zero responsibility for whatever happens.

If all goes well, then you're lucky - I'm guessing that's where the positive reviews are coming from. If something goes wrong, these people have ZERO interest in helping resolve your problem, and they refuse to take any accountability for it. I wish I had just picked an actual moving company directly instead of bringing my business to these completely useless, and actually harmful, middlemen.

Other than just being useless, here's what they do that makes me recommend that you stay as far away from them as possible:

1. They do not do their due diligence when choosing a company that will execute your move. Google "East Freight Logistics" to see what I am talking about. At the time of my pickup, this contractor was already IN THE LOCAL NEWS for delaying people's deliveries for months, not answering to calls for weeks, not giving ETAs, etc. I had a very similar experience with what's described in the news articles, although luckily I just had to wait for a little under a month. Capital City could only tell me that they "will be doing away with this contractor". Why this hadn't happened 3 months before I will never know.

2. They promise you things they know they can't deliver. During the initial phone call, I was told in no uncertain terms that, being the large professional company they are, they offer next-day delivery of my items! I was immediately sold, and it made sense, since my move was just over 150 miles. As soon as my stuff got picked up and I called Capital City to confirm my delivery date, their rhetoric changed to "it's standard that for this distance it will take up to 7 business days, we don't know why you were promised next-day delivery." When my stuff actually showed up almost 4 weeks (!) later, the contractor company refused to compensate me for anything, because apparently the actual contract (that I don't even have access to now, with everything being online) set their acceptable delivery window to 30 days, so they are well within the limits. Amazing sleight of hand, 1 day becomes 30 days in the blink of an eye.

3. They low-ball your original estimate! You might (as I did) want to choose this company because their estimates are lower than what some smaller companies offer. Don't believe that. Three days before your pick-up date (when you had already put down your deposit, and it's way too late to find new movers) their QA department calls you to "make sure everything is in order". During that call, they tell you that when you said "I have a bed and a mattress", they did not account for the fact (or ask you) that the bed might a headboard and a footboard. This, and some other stuff like that, and at the last minute your estimate goes up by $500. Which made it on par with other estimates I got from smaller companies, who I guess were just telling the truth from the start.

4. Customer support... The ladies that pick up the phone are nice enough, and it looks like some of them might actually be trying to help with your issues (although unsuccessfully, and they never call you back even after assuring you they would). But I also had the pleasure of talking to another guy, probably a "manager" of some sort. This was when my pick-up was already over 4 hours late, and I've been on hold on the call with them for 1.5 hours. This dude just immediately starts telling me that "actually they promise a 3-day pick-up window", so nothing is going wrong. When I told him that: a) that was not what I agreed on when I signed the contract; b) I already had a specific date and time confirmed, - he finally let it go. After I (very politely) told him that I would be expecting some kind of discount for this inconvenience, he immediately started acting like a complete jerk, telling me that "if we go over the contract", then I will see the company is not liable for anything, and any problem I have is between me and the contractor, because Capital City is "just the broker".

And that last part was completely accurate. This company is just a broker who gives promises that are not theirs to make, misrepresents the provided services, and has terrible customer support. Do yourself a favor and don't let them charm you into giving them your hard-earned money. Pick an actual moving company with good reviews.

Terrible Company, don't trust them

This company significantly misquoted me for an important move, blame the mistake on their Junior employee, telling me that they are too busy to get all the details right the first time.

The customer service follow up is none existent with severe lack of consideration, they choose not to tell me some of the most important information on the terms and condition.

They are cold, inconsiderate, insincere, or responsive (besides the "junior employee" who clearly over promised and so the moving broker can severely under deliver)

This has been a nightmare for me and I regret to ever have worked with them.

Not a moving company but a broker.. Stay away!

Very poor service. They pretended that they're a moving company with their own trucks while they are a broker who pairs you with random moving companies many with terrible service. They later claimed they work with A rated companies only to deal with Quick Move LLC, a company with 1 star who break, steal and misplace valuable belongings. Stay away from Capital City or know what you're getting yourself into.

Horrible customer service

We did not use this company thank god. They cold called me and gave an amazing price with guaranteed money back if cancelled within 3 days. $500 discount if you book today. Come to find out, they are just a broker. When the actual movers show up, they up the price by thousands and by that time, you are stuck so you have to pay it. We found this out within the 3 day window so we canceled. It took over 30 days to get our money back and I had to have the bank do a charge back. They took 10% cancellation fee which was never disclosed over the phone. Lots of phone calls made with none returned. This is not how a legitimate business conducts business. You have been warned.

Fraudulent Company

Do not trust this company. They have a great sounding salesperson that contacts you initially, giving you an estimate for all of your things. Then on the day of moving, the actual company that bids for and picks up your things will increase the price drastically. My estimated move cost started at $2400 and increased to $4200 on the day of the move. Here’s an example of what they did, capital city moving “estimated” that my bed and box spring would take up 60 cubic feet (cf). The moving company that showed up told me that those two items would actually take up 200 cf in their truck since nothing could be stacked on top of them and they couldn’t turn them on their side to make more room. They used this, and other previously accounted for “unstackable items” to almost double the price at pick up. I knew these movers were sketchy the moment he took a look at all my stuff and told me he would give me his special price. He then proceeded to show me the price of a uhaul that would cost $7k to make the price increase not look so bad. All in all, just save yourself the stress and heartache and go with a reputable company because these guys are not it.

Long-distance move from Springfield, OR to Phoenix, AZ

Don't give these people your money

We still don't have our possessions.

This company that claimed they could move my household to another state. They quoted me approximately 5000$ They used terms like "we" and made promises detailing how our things would be moved. In fact they are a broker and had no idea who was going to move our things. After agreeing to the quoted amount we found out that they have a 1200$ non-refundable deposite. After deciding to save money by not canceling they charged us another 4000$ by judging how much we had to move after the first quote. When the actual moving company showed up we were charged yet another 5000$ AFTER our things were packed in the truck because the company charges by square footage, again something that was not disclosed previously. Not only did we have to pay nearly 14,000$ for the move but the truck provided did not have enough room for all of our belongings causing us to have to rent another truck and move the rest ourselves. Also, we were promised that the company would take apart our furniture which was not the case and that they would move us with out extra charges but actually will charge extra for moving boxes up-stairs (we moved into a two story house). Both the broker and the moving company have been very very difficult to get ahold of, dodging calls and not responding. They picked up our things three weeks ago and have yet to hear from the company as to when they will arrive. They have in their possession, my father's cremains, family photos and other irreplaceable items. The stress this has caused my family is forcing me to reach out and ask legal advice. Please don't hire this company, save your sanity and your money.

Avoid this company at all cost!!

I used this company to move me from California to Oklahoma. First off they tell major lies about when your stuff will be delivered and they hire people who are doing fraudulent work! The first set of movers they sent to my house had no tools and they were asking me to Zelle them money! I sent them off and called capital city moving back and told them send another crew because capital city moving wouldn’t refund me my 2,000 dollars back even thought they hired unprofessional people to come to my home! So they send the next 2 men out the following week to get my belongings and I went from a contract pay of 4800 to now paying 9,000 dollars for a 3 bedroom move! This was beginning of October and I still DO NOT have my belongings and when I call capital city to tell them my concerns they give me the run around and claim a manager will call me and they never do!!! So sadly I found out the company they hired are not even legal to be doing moves. They are using fake DOT numbers and fake names on contracts! My stuff has been sitting in a storage, and the mover asked me to send money to an account that has nothing to do with this move! Save the money and the headache and move your home yourself! They are all scammers and now they have a huge lawsuit on their hands for contracting movers who are committing fraud! If you are reading this please file lawsuits immediately! Myself and 4 others are already in the process!!
