DO NOT USE TOTAL FRAUDS

*BEWARE!! NOT MOVERS! BROKERS WHO MISREPRESENT THEMSELVES AND DON'T VET THEIR ACTUAL MOVERS!*

They are NOT movers they're brokers-they don't disclose that while talking to you, but it is buried in their contract. Got a call from a very unprofessional, pushy, man, from actual moving company. He wanted to move up the date of my move to better accommodate him, and was evasive about who he was working for "the mover" "yes, yes, Capital, the one you talked to". left me with BAD feeling! Searched his number, it's tied to Prestige Vanlines Inc. out of New Jersey- They have nothing but bad reviews with the Better Business Bureau, as well as other sites, with horror stories about people having their items held hostage in storage until a much larger amount than the estimate was paid. I also looked up their DOT # (2510512) - the US DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has complaints against them and shows them as having a pending insurance cancellation. Obviously, I did NOT want to do business with this company!

I called Capital the same day that I got the call from this man with Prestige, and was told that they could "maybe" get a different mover but it wouldn't be on my moving dates, and when I said I wanted to cancel, I was told I'd have to talk to the supervisor or dispatcher about that... It was a Friday afternoon and I was told they'd call me Monday. They did not call Monday. They called Tuesday wanting to "make sure we were all set". I told them I'd cancelled Friday because they were not forthcoming with the fact that they are actually brokers, and they did not vet their movers, the company they were trying to use was not what they claimed it would be and was totally disreputable. They still have my $1300 deposit, and refuse to refund me despite their fraudulent behavior.

Worst experience ever

I have never worked with a company as rude or fraudulent as this one! Moving is stressful enough but to be lied to from the beginning and then when you try to cancel with more than a months notice they keep the deposit and hang up on you!! I was told that I could cancel anytime but if it was outside 3 days I would have to pay a 10% penalty! That I get and I am willing to pay a fee! But to retain $1474 dollars for a one hour phone call is stealing! The CRS was so rude and literally told me she couldn’t care less what my conversation was or how much in advance notice I gave them I wasn’t getting ANY of my deposit back!!! Most unprofessional company and I seriously do not know how they are still in business!!! The fact that they represent themselves as Vet supporting is so incredibly insulting!!! I even thought OK they are keeping my money and have done nothing to earn it so I asked about their packing service! I figured I could at least use them for that and I wouldn’t feel so bad throwing away almost $1500 and then I was told told no sorry we only offer packing services when it’s incorporated with a move! Comon!!!!! Work with your clients just a little and don’t just try to screw people because that’s what your doing!!!! You should send your CRS folks to school to learn how to be true customer services reps and not just mean Too Bad attitudes!!

Let’s start out with talking about they have paid for all their good reviews !!!!! I wish I would’ve investigated further before I gave $868 deposit and then pressured me into another 500 telling me if I did not they wouldn’t send the truck the most rudest unprofessional disgusting excuse for a human being I will do everything in my power to continue to write horrible reviews about this

company!!! Called my layer and bank.

Poor/Unprofessional Business Practices

On July 20, 2021, I called Capital City Moving LLC to get an estimate on a move from Ohio to Florida. The gentleman I spoke to, Ty said they were a cash-only business and half must be paid upfront. I told him I was unable to pay half upfront and thanked him for his time. He called me back and said we could work something out. I gave a $500 deposit, with $835.16 due when movers showed up on either 30 or 31 August 2021. They sent me three emails confirming the estimate of items moved which stated they would do a follow-up a week before they arrived to ensure I had everything set and nothing had changed. I did not hear from the company and realized I had more boxes than I told them. I called the company 2 separate times to discuss the change and they said not to worry as when the movers arrived they could make an on-the-spot adjustment. Four men showed up at the end of their arrival window and gave me a new estimate of more than double the cost, no square footage The gentleman scribbled a number of over $7000 on a piece of paper and presented it to me. I told him no way so he scratched it out and jotted down $6000. I told him I did not have the cash to pay half up front so he and the four other gentlemen left without moving anything. I called the company and spoke with Paul Watson who told me they were not going to issue me a refund, it was my fault, I should have called and the re-check of property phone call was merely a courtesy and they didn’t have to confirm. I replied I just want a refund of my $500 dollars and I asked him why his movers didn’t contact him as I was the customer. He was very unprofessional and I wanted to ensure the call was being recorded as I was surprised at his level of unprofessionalism. My husband attempted to call immediately after I spoke with Paul and the representative that answered said he was gone for the day. As a result, I had to fly back to Columbus to rid the residence of my belongings and move it all myself.

Moving from CA to SC

This is the worst company you can hire , Please dont make the mistake I made . It started with nice talker on the phone with $ 3000 down payment and an estimate of $ 8800 total estimate they call it . Work with your local movers they do all the work This company sucked $8800 for doing nothing . I paid the real movers from LA another $ 8000 and they did a great job . Save your money dont call them

Fraudulant claims - Financial and property loss

Was given a quote after providing the exact number of boxes by size and photos of the little furniture to be moved. First driver that arrived said they had 6 weeks to deliver and wanted an additional $1,000. They planned to store my things until dispatch coordinated additional loads. I sent them away.

I called Capital City to complain so they coordinated another truck. The second carrier required $2,000 more than what I was quoted. The driver also required cash and would not provide a receipt.

The driver did not use padding on the furniture and crammed/stacked product where-ever it would fit.

As a result a rare art deco table (iron) was broken and cabinets were badly scratched.

I was told by Captal City that the driver would take 4 days to a week to deliver. On the contrary, the driver told me he would drive straight to the destination with few stops.

I had 24 hours to meet him 1200 miles away.

When I asked him to store the load (according to Capitals promise) he said that it would be stored in Florida and had no idea how long it would take to get it back to NC.

The three selling points Capital City Moving made could not be further from the truth.

Their quote was exceeded by $2,000

The load was poorly handled and badly damaged

Storage was not an option at the area I moved to

Don't use them!

DO NOT use Capital City Movers, LLC, 2701 Oakland Park Blvd.

Oakland Park, FL 33311. They are scammers who use predatory pricing. They are only a shipping broker – they don’t ship anything. I hired them to transport 4 fitness items from New Jersey to our gym, 240 miles away. They gave me an original estimate of $2,094. A couple of days before the move, I added one small piece of equipment. Capital City Movers then jacked up the estimate to $3,248, an increase of 55%!!

When their designated mover delivered the equipment, they presented balance due $850 more than the increased estimate! In total, we paid almost 200% more than the original estimate. That’s their game – give you a lowball estimate, then revise the estimate just before you move, so they have you over a barrel.

Their Better Business Bureau rating is F, and there are already 66 formal complaints about the company since they were founded in June of 2021. Yelp’s users (46 ratings) rate them ONE out of FIVE stars. You ought to see what Capital City Movers did to some of those poor people.

Please do not hire them! HORRIBLE!

They have the most horrible, unhelpful staff ....everyone from their leadership (their supposed Director of Operations) to their QA person to their customer service representatives. Trust me....I am moving tomorrow and regret booking them so much. Please go with a more trusted name (esp if you are doing a long distance move).

Best Ever Mover!

Capital city moving did a great job. I had two moves - one out of storage and one from home to home. Both crews did a fantastic job. They were early, worked quickly, and took care of everything with our moves. They were careful, efficient, and very professional. I would recommend them without question.

They were punctual and friendly and took care of my furniture and stuff as it was theirs. They wrapped the table to prevent any damage from moving and transportation. Company quoted $3100 to move one bedroom from California to Texas then showed up at the truck and wanted $11,500 claiming there was a lot more stuff that had not been listed which was ludicrous.

These guys were great. The team they sent were Robert and Griffin. These guys worked hard and didn't stop until the last box was in the new house. Not one item was broken. Their rates are fair.
