Long-distance move from Manitowoc, WI to New Port Richey, FL

Horrible moving company

If I could give them less than one star, I would. They subcontract out to a different moving company which is run by unprofessional people where English is their second language (I am not racist). Those men broke many items, sat on my belongings, smoked in my home, made unprofessional and rude comments to myself and my son, damaged my home, threw my items around like they were worth nothing, contract is hard to reading, beware of what your belongings are worth because in the contract some are not even covered unless you specifically itemize them, also what they do cover is a fraction of the value ($.60 per pound) they did not arrive when they were supposed to at the end destination, and did not arrive when they were supposed to for pick up. I would not recommend this company and will NEVER use them again!!!

Long-distance move from Santa Rosa, CA to Scottsbluff, NE

SCAM

When it sounds like it's "too good to be true" it usually is. I was looking at a long distance move and the Uhaul was going to cost over $5,000. After searching for more affordable options, I found a website offering affordable moving options This was "Verified Movers" https://verifiedmovers.com/. Prominent disclaimer on their website that they receive money for referrals to the various movers and receive commissions on moves. This company is part of the scam. When I was put in touch with Brinks Moving(https://brinksmoving.com/)... they offered me a "full service move" for $2,300 that included gas and a crew of 3 to load and drive and unload the truck. I informed Jeremy(direct 754-778-5854) that I needed the equivalent of a 16 foot moving truck and he typed up my estimate to a little over $2,300 and said not to worry if it's over the listed amount because there's plenty of room and they'll take care of me. Jeremy is very smooth and I now see that he is very good at what he does and he definitely knows what he's doing in taking advantage of people seeking help in moving. I provided Brinks Moving with my routing and account information on 10/25/22 to process a deposit for a move that was supposed to take place on 10/30/22. On 10/27/22, after being warned that this company was a scam and doing research online confirming that they are a scam, I called to cancel the service and they said that their 72 hour cancellation policy doesn't apply in my case because it was agreed upon inside of one week. I was bounced around to other people and asked for a manager and given the run around. The e-check then posted to my account for payment to "American Relocation & Storage services Llc". No other identifying information for this company was provided. This company, as you'll see online with a little research, will mislead you and end up charging you triple the cost in the end. I was quoted for 1/3 the volume I needed and I'm glad that they only took $680 from me.

Long-distance move from Roseburg, OR to Bremerton, WA

Don’t be fooled

THIS WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE ALL THE WAY AROUND:

1. I thought I was hiring local movers until I had the paperwork to sign online after the estimate.

2. A couple days before the move, an “estimate adjuster”called me and wanted specific items named. Once I named each item they wanted an additional $1500 which doubled the cost of the move. I told him no I would cut the inventory back down to the original estimate. He scheduled a second appointment for me. (You cannot just call the adjuster at your convenience, you have to have an appointment.)

3. At the next appointed time,I had reduced the items list back to the original AND I was charged a $500 change fee!!! Since I had already paid a third of the cost upfront- non-refundable-I argued the point but went ahead and paid the additional $500.

4. On the day of the move, the movers took inventory and told me I owed another $1,796. There were only a few small items I’d overlooked such as a small desk top printer. I had been told a few over looked small items wouldn’t change the fee.

5. The movers told me the van would be at my destination 1-5 days later (350 miles). I told him I was moving my incapacitated brother to assisted living and I needed same day delivery. The contract only specified weather or unforeseen traffic conditions for a possible delay in delivery. Again I argued the point and we finally negotiated an additional $500 for “direct”. I did not pay the $1796, he dropped that.

6. The estimate adjuster had listed the 250cc Kawasaki motorcycle as a “dirt bike”. When the movers saw it he told me it would be another $600. I got him down to $500.

7. I left the same time as the movers, but had to wait 2 hours for them on the other end. They did a quick and dirty set up and dropped the motorcycle off at storage.

8. They unloaded a small tv table instead of my brothers, but insisted it was the right one. At least one box is missing with several small items I’m sure they don’t want, but neglected to unload, or unloaded it to someone else. I think they made a different delivery on the way, accounting for the 2hr. delay. The head mover was rude and angry the whole time. I believe he was a local moving business contracted through Brinks, and had also been misled on the terms of the move. We both saw that and made the best of it by negotiating with each other. Bottom line is, DON’T MOVE THROUGH BRINKS -YOU’LL BE DISAPPOINTED

Long-distance move from Columbia, TN to Maitland, FL

HORRIBLE

We were misled and lied to about the service they would be providing. We were given a delivery date for our furniture to arrive and scheduled our plans around that date. We had family come scheduled flights etc. the furniture did not come when promised. It came 5 days later. Brinks did not take any responsibility for this. They hired a 3 rd party to move our things. When the truck showed up to load our furniture they only sent one mover. We were told they would complete all moving. We had to help the mover. When we questioned them about why they sent one person to move our furniture and that we had to help they said that we lied and that they sent 2 movers. Horrible experience from bringing to end!!!!

Long-distance move from Milford, CT to Denver, CO

Disaster - BEWARE

I contracted with Brinks after at least 6 calls with the representative. He assured me my move was with Brinks and my quote was my final price. Brinks lowballed me on cubic space needed even though there were 4 thorough reviews. They contracted the move out to another company then contracted to a 3rd mover. Each time the costs increased and the cubic feet needed. My items arrived 3 days early so I had to get a storage unit and hire local movers for my final move. Do not believe them. Check the paperwork for early delivery - most contracts only reference if they late. ONLY book with someone who guarantees they are the mover door to door and have it in writing.

Long-distance move from Alpine, TX to Winter Park, FL

A web of lies

My son was moving from Texas to Orlando and had originally planned on renting a Uhaul for the move. After calcualting the rental cost, fuel, food, hotel etc. it appeared that we could retain a mover and not have deal with it. The experiance in the beginning was pleasant and we felt confident that we were going to be taken care of, we were terribly wrong. We were told on numerous occasions that the move would take 4-5 days from the pick up date. When the truck arrived the driver again told us 4-5 days unless poor weather, etc. slowed them down. As my son could not yet leave his job to meet the truck my husband and i flew to Orlando from LAX, rented a car and a hotel room so we could meet the driver and hand them the cashiers check they required, We stayed at the hotel for 4 days while trying our best to get a return call from the driver which never came. We had to return to LA without ever receiving the furniture or even a phone call. Twelve days after our return my son flew to Orlandon

and met the truck. The driver was to provide 24 hour notice as to expected arrival date, he called yesterday evening (8-22-2022) and showed late that same night to delvery the broken items. crack furniture, etc.

They had my sons entire household in a damn truck for 3 weeks and never once told us where it was except tht "it was in the hub".

I will never again hire a 3rd party broker, further, I will sell or give away every stick of furniture I own rather than ever go through this nightmare again.

Please stay clear of this company.

Long-distance move from Redondo Beach, CA to Austin, TX

I was lied to by the sales rep. READ THE CONTRACT before signing

Dear Brinks moving, I'll bring my business somewhere else, even if it means I'll lose my deposit.

I was contacted by the sales rep. He gave me the quote. it seems fine. He guaranteed that I would get 100% deposit back. it's not the case, you MUST read the contract before you sign. I was on the phone with him when he sent over the contract and told me to sign. He kept asking if I received it, I felt bad to keep him waiting so I just signed because the price looks correct.

The contract stated that I can only get 85% deposit money back, within 72 hours after making the deposit.

I found a better price someone else, I could have just called back and requested a refund (it was within 72 hours). I was trying to be nice and thought that let's give Brinks my business, perhaps they could match the price.

They ghosted my email regarding the price match. (I guess because it was within 72 hours)

Then I called the sales rep. He wouldn't match. ok fine.

Then I called the customer services to ask for a refund. I didn't want to be transferred to sales again if I tell them about the price match. so I just said that the move is not happening, please issue a refund(up to this point I wasn't aware about the 72-hour policy). => surprise! they started to bring out the contract. I was shocked.

The other company only quoted $200 lower, it's a small amount of money. I could have stayed with Brinks if it's only about money, but I was SCAMMED.

Then I called back again, just go straight to the point because I was very upset. Now they told me I was a liar, because at first I wanted a price match, then I said I was not moving anymore. they said that the sales rep was a good guy and would never lie like that.

yes, it will be more expensive for me to leave the deposit and go to a different company, but I don't want to give these people a single penny more.

Bait-n-Switch

Would give a zero stars if possible. Major Bait-n-switch. Quoted $7500.....ended up at over $12k. Brinks person misquoted. ..OK mistakes happen. Mover got there and added special packaging, fuel surcharge.....I agreed I would pay for what the mistake was in the quote as I dont expect something for nothing...but all the add-ons was ridiculous. And they weren't loading anything until I agreed, was stuck. Brinks was communicating that they would make an adjustment to the bill, due to their mistake......until I made final payment then they ghosted me. Major screw job. Don't ever use them....

Scammers

Tried to double the estimate days before the move, because their employee screwed the initial bid up so bad. Multiple calls to resolve the situation were pushed back until after the cancellation deadline so they could 'legally' keep the security deposit. Will not take responsibility for their mistakes and get pissy when the customer gets agitated that they they've just raised the price by $5000!
