Long-distance move from Bakersfield, CA to Oberlin, KS

Don’t deliver your belongings.

I hired this company for a long distance move and they are already 38 days past their due date deadline with no sign of them ever delivering. They gave constant excuses to why my shipment isn’t on its way yet and today 26 oct 2020 told me that they don’t want to deliver it because it’s out of the way and that I can get a refund and pickup my stuff. I’m literally halfway across the country and would have to not only fly back, but find a company and start the moving process all over again, costing me hundreds or potentially thousands of extra dollars. Do not hire this company. Their customer service and complaint options are disabled on their automated line as well and say unavailable when clicked.

Official company response

We apologize for your inconvience of your delivery, but when shipments our in places that are not in areas that are traveled a lot we do have a problem getting them out and the sales person should have contacted dispatch about this, but they did offer you a refund to come and get your money and also you were compensated for everyday that we were late of $35 dollars but we do apologize.

Blvd Moving Poor Experience

Our experience with Blvd Moving could not have been worse. The nightmare began the day the movers showed up to pack the house. The charge had increased by $4875 from our original quote, due to a china hutch and garage contents not being included, although the estimator clearly saw them and took pictures. There was no attempt to rectify the situation, and we had no choice but to continue, as we were driving cross country the next day. This was clearly a low ball bid to get our business!

The next major issues surrounded delivery dates. My husband was scheduled for extensive brain surgery, and I made multiple calls to attempt to coordinate delivery prior to his procedure. I was finally told that loading would take place 2/9-2/10 with arrival 2/14-2/15. The story continued to change and the driver did not even leave LA until 2/15, and the delivery did not arrive until the day my husband was in surgery (2/19). Obviously, I was upset and under considerable stress at that point. I have never encountered the rude behavior I was dealt with by the manager, who had absolutely no concept of customer service, much let alone compassion for our situation. At one point, he stated that if I didn't like it I could come pick up our shipment in CA (we had relocated to Ohio!)

The last straw was being charged an unpacking fee ($658.50), when loading and unloading were the only services provided. 2 different company employees indicated this should not have been charged, and I was told by customer service after researching that it would be refunded. However, 2 days later this decision was reversed, and I was offered only $250. Rationale was that services were provided for piano, grandfather clock, and mattresses which were not even listed in the original unpacking fee schedule, and did not involve more than unloading and reassembly (which are listed as standard services.)

This company is unethical at best, and has absolutely no concept of customer service. Use them at your own risk!

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to Seattle, WA

Avoid at all costs

BLVD Moving crushed several of our boxes and then retaped them, caved in our metal filing cabinets, gouged our antiques, and then charged us an extra $1000 to unload the truck. The only way to file a claim with them is to sign your rights away. After causing nearly $4000 in damage, they offered us $148.

Long-distance move from San Jose, CA to North Las Vegas, NV

If I could give zero stars I would

Let's start with everything BLVD did well. Nothing. Okay that's done.

Now the list of everything they've done poorly:

1. Quoted me one price, then arrived the day of the move and despite me having a spreadsheet with my EXACT inventory, they refused to load unless I agreed to a price raise of nearly $1,000.

2. The movers who picked up our stuff dropped boxes. They kicked boxes marked fragile. They dropped 4 plastic storage bins at once shattering two of them. They ripped a king-size mattress. This is all the damage we know if YET because we're not past our delivery window and still have not received our stuff.

3. There was no communication about where our stuff was or when it would be delivered. When we called to ask where it was, we were lied to over and over and over about where it was and when it would arrive. They said at least 5 times though that our stuff would arrive in the delivery window.

4. When our delivery window passed, BLVD moving stopped answering the phone. I know they have caller ID because every other time I called they knew who I was before identifying myself. Our last conversation, the 'customer service' supervisor, and I use that term loosely as she is the rudest human on the planet, said our driver had to 'reset' but would be heading to our destination the next day and when he arrived, we'd be the first delivery.

Was our stuff loaded on a truck and transported here the next day? I don't know because they won't answer the phone. All I know is I am out thousands of dollars and technically owe them thousands more and I don't even know if my stuff exists anymore.

If you look up this company on YELP it says that the majority of their positive reviews originate from the same IP address and warns their review level is likely artificially inflated. I suspect that is the case here as well because every actual customer I have sought out has had a similar experience to mine.

Fraudulent pricing. Damaged Good. And you may or may not actually receive all of your stuff, but you're definitely not getting it on time.

Liars and extortionists

Beware! Quoted $4k and was warned by other movers while I was shopping around that they would hike up the price on moving day. Called to confirm the price and they were absolutely right, BLVD intended to wait until we had flown in and were at the storage units with them to tell us that the price was actually going to be $11k. They remove their bad reviews on Google and post fake 5 star ratings from puppet accounts. Run, don’t walk, far away from this company.

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Orlando, FL

Bate-and-switch

I entered into an agreement to move from San Francisco, CA to Orlando, FL. The salesperson quoted me moving dates of possibly 10-14 days on the phone, and other company representatives and subcontractors involved quoted approximately 10-21 days or a similar number of days. I am now approaching day 21, with no planned delivery date.

The items were picked up on 23 JAN 2022. I contacted the subcontractor a few times to inquire about the status/location of the items being moved. I realize that this is practically a coast-to-coast move and that it can have complications, so I try to be flexible. On 7 FEB 2022 I contacted the company and/or its subcontractor to inquire about item status and was told that the items were in Texas and may arrive in something like "3-5 business days, maybe more...". On 10 FEB 2022 I contacted the company and/or subcontractor and was informed that the actual 30 day window to move things and for them not to pay >30 day penalties was 25 JAN 2022, and that my items were still in Texas.

My concern is for a potential "bait and switch" and/or "false inducement" between the front-of-house salespersons and the back-of-house delivery/driving teams/subcontractors. My concern is also that false expectations are being set by company representatives and/or subcontractors. Some may call it telling lies to win a customer's business. I wish to document this for other potential customers.

Long-distance move from Echo, LA to Des Moines, IA

I called to get a quote.

I called to get a quote. They asked for a lot of details and gave me a very accurate price. Two movers arrived on time. I was emailing back and front with Nicolas and he was very responsive. The movers packed everything with a lot of care. They were great. My things arrived exactly in 2 weeks. Nothing was damaged. I'm moving back soon already and I plan on using them again.

Long-distance move from Earlimart, CA to Dover, DE

I highly recommend them!

I used this service to move all the contents from a 3 bedroom house. The guys were great. They arrived on time with a huge truck and took everything out without breaking or scratching a thing. They were really careful and the prices were pretty reasonable. The put everything exactly where I wanted them to in the new place and finished the whole job in less than 3 hours (it was about a 20 drive). Very professional movers with all the tools they needed to get the job done. I highly recommend them!

Long-distance move from Randallstown, MD to Farmington, DE

I'm really glad I went with this amazing company.

I used a pretty cheap, "get the job done" service for my previous two moves, with mixed results. This time around I decided to go for something more legitimate and I'm really glad I did. A team of three movers from BLVD Moving came and packed up our one bedroom in no time whereas previous movers took all day. They were very diligent about wrapping everything carefully; everything arrived to our new apartment intact and damage-free. The team as a whole was very upbeat, can-do, and positive. They were right on time (a huge plus for me) and worked as efficiently as possible to get the job done. I got quotes from at least half a dozen moving companies, and I'm really glad I went with this amazing company.
