Best Fit Movers

I’ve been a realtor in San Diego for many years. If you are planning a move, in the near future, you may want to read this so, you don’t have a similar outcome.

Recently, I had some clients, that are seniors, and that were selling their townhome, and moving out of state.

They hired Best Fit Movers to help them with their move. This turned out to be about the very worst of all possible choices, when selecting a moving company, in my opinion. Here is what happened: On the day that the movers first showed up, the sellers had marked each of the furniture items, with blue masking tape so that there would be no confusion, whatsoever, regarding: ‘which items to move’, and which items to leave there, since the sellers were going to stay in possession for another week, or two. At the same time, the sellers made a small pile of personal items, such as their wallets, house keys, car keys, credit cards, purses, and a number of other items, and clearly stated to the entire moving crew, that “none of the items on the bed, were to be moved”. They then left and went outside, and took a walk, so that the movers could move the furniture items. When they returned, all of the items, on the bed, were missing. They immediately called and were told that ‘the items had been moved to storage’. After a very long wait, several weeks, and multiple calls, they finally were able to set an appointment to meet at the storage facility, to retrieve some of their items-but not all. The sellers were promised an inventory, of their personal property items, that were in storage, on day one. When the seller followed up, on the inventory list, multiple times, he was told that they would post that online for him, which never happened. Juliana, the Manager, claimed that they had ’10 vaults’, and charged them over $11,000, to deliver the 10 vaults to their new location. However, they only delivered, 5 vaults, however, and the other 5 are still missing even though they were charged for ten. Additionally, to date, they are missing at least 21 of their items it is very likely a lot more than that, according to the sellers. The entire time, ‘Best Fit Movers’ charged them $1,000 per month for storage. When asked about this, she replied that ‘the remaining items, that are in storage, will be delivered, once ‘they have another customer moving to their area’. How long are they supposed to wait for the off chance that someone else, is moving to their remote area, all, the while paying $1000 a month for storage?? This is ridiculous, at best. The sellers had been trying to contact Juliana, the Manager, for a good 4-5 months, however, according to the sellers, she never returned any of their phone calls and has not done, what she has promised, on multiple occasions. I personally called her, as well, multiple times, on their behalf, and still no callback, even though she knows what the problem is, and the importance of resolving this. She is certainly of no help nor does, anyone else at this company care enough to solve the customer's issue-especially since they are directly responsible for causing them. This terrible customer experience does not instill any confidence in Best Fit Movers. My best advice is to not let this happen to you! Moving can be stressful enough, and you don’t need to deal with an unprofessional company that apparently could care less about the customer experience that they deliver. I wish there were ‘zero stars’ so that I could give them one because a one-star review is far too generous for Best Fit Movers. In my opinion, they should change their name to ‘Worst Fit Movers’.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $11000

My experience with Best Fit Movers was awful. I was given one quote when I booked my move and a time frame from for between 9-10AM for my movers to arrive. I was told that my movers would call me thirty minutes before arriving. They were soooo late. This day was already stressful enough. I hired movers to make things go smoothly and all it did was cause me more stress. By 9:30 I called Best Fit Movers because I hadn't received a call about my movers arriving and wanted an ETA. By 9:45 I was getting anxious and by 10 I was very concerned. I called several times, each time going to voicemail. When I was able to talk to someone, they told me they were unable to give me an ETA. This continued until past 11AM. My movers were supposed to arrive between 9-10 and showed up well after 11. I ended up missing a furniture delivery because of it. When my movers arrived, they had no idea they were supposed to arrive between 9-10 and said they were just told to come 15 minutes before they arrived. Nevertheless I was just happy to get started. They were nice and moved all my belongings safely. Throughout the process they asked if I would like them to wrap, tape, cover or secure my furniture. I said yes and thanked them. They never told me that it was an additional cost or how much of a cost. In my quote it does say that moving supplies are extra but they do not list their prices for things like a mattress bag or cling wrap. These cost me an extra 200 dollars. Now, I am glad nothing broke during the move, however my furniture is from IKEA. I would not have agreed to wrap those pieces if I knew it would cost so much for cheap furniture. Also, my movers ended up taking a few hours extra. The majority of my stuff was moved within an hour of them arriving but the furniture took them over an hour to wrap. When you add the cost of materials in with the cost of the hourly pay it is almost 400 bucks for that extra hour. I felt like I was personally misled. My move costed close to $1000 (double what I was quoted) and they were late. Also, I was told I would receive an email receipt. Never did. I was told a manager would call me on Monday (my move was a Saturday), she called me on Wednesday. When she called she seemed rude and unprofessional. Her name is Juliana. She didn't apologize for my movers being so late. I understand that materials cost extra and they take however long they have to take but I felt mislead by my quote and mislead by my movers who failed to tell me how much those costs would be. I am a college student who just paid first, last, and deposit on my apartment, moving supplies and furniture. This unexpected cost really hurt me for the month. I was so disappointed with the customer service of this business. I had an awful experience and do not recommend ever using their services. The hidden fees nearly bankrupted my budget and their customer service was terrible. The manager said she would call me back to talk about the experience and she never did. So unhappy.
