Move from Arlington, Virginia to Texas

If you want a HIGH PRICE and HORRIBLE, AWFUL, CUSTOMER SERVICE, this is definitely the company for you. What their customer service does best is to quote the contract back to you and cash your money. If you expect them to reach out to you to explain anything, forget about it. They never once took the initiative to call me about anything. Let me give you exact examples: the packout agreement said September 19-20, but when nobody showed up on September 19 and I gave them a call, they told me quite emphatically that they could come EITHER of those days. When the crew arrived at my condo building after 9 AM on September 20, the first thing they did was to complain about the "long carry" and insist that I would have to pay more for it. When I asked them if they could finish the job by 5:00 PM, they said they could, but by 5:30 PM it was clear that they could not, and I ended up having to pay my condo building an extra $150 for overtime use of the freight elevator, since they did not finish until well after 7:30 PM. Now let's move on to the delivery process. As I mentioned above, my effects were picked up on September 20. On September 30, I emailed the company asking if they could deliver my effects on Tuesday, October 18. That notice would give them 18 days to ship my things, which I thought was quite adequate. The answer was that October 18 was the "first available date for delivery," and that they had 2 to 3 weeks from that date to arrange the actual delivery. I contacted them again on October 7, 14, and 21, trying to get an exact date for delivery. They never contact me once during that time to explain anything. On the 21st, I was told that the shipment was "likely" to be loaded the following week. When I again heard nothing from them, on October 25, I phoned them to ask for the status, and was told that the shipment had been loaded, but they could still not give me an exact date for delivery. It turned out that AMEX had contracted with an independent driver to drive the shipment to Texas, and when I contacted the driver on October 25, he told me it would be "5 or 6 days" before I would see my things, as he had to make a delivery in Florida first. The moving van finally showed up on Monday, October 31, more than a month after I first contact them about delivery. The actual delivery was led by an edgy young guy in a huge rush whose idea of customer service was to tell me that he was being careful after he dropped lead clock weights out of a package he was opening. My bottom line: I'll never use or recommend this company to anyone ever.

Search no further for your moving needs – no matter what the scenario!

Due to a death in the family and difficulties with extended family members, we found ourselves in the position of needing to pack up a lifetime of loose articles and treasures, and have them shipped from NJ to FL. This sounds like a standard move, but in this case, emotions and stress were running high, and we didn’t expect the usual cooperative parties at the destination.

I found AMEX on Yelp, and explained the situation to Tommy, then Michelle (operations) and wasn’t sure if they’d be willing to enter into a potentially dicey situation. They assured me every step of the way and even proposed some creative solutions to relieve my concerns. From the moment we first spoke, they communicated multiple times a day with any updates or changes. The pickup team (Henry and crew) were told the situation, and respectfully packed and secured items that most people would have thrown away.

For the destination trip, Ramon the driver kept in touch with me directly, day and night, and although the delivery was not expected by the recipient, he handled the interaction with grace and care. The items were delivered and accepted without issue. They even sent a video and followed up with a call to me for my peace of mind.

I will promote and refer AMEX Moving and Storage to everyone as a compassionate company who treats their customers like family.
