My girlfriend and I were moving from Montreal to Alberta from a 2 bed condo , we moved all her belongings into a storage unit before we left . After finding a place to rent in Alberta, we unfortunately decided to hire Alliance Van Lines after seeing there good competitive rate for moving a 3 bed condo online. My girlfriend contacted Alliance explained how many boxes she had and they came up with the estimated weight of 11,000lbs, which she explained she thinks was over estimated. The guy on the phone said we will see when it gets scaled and adjust the price.

Unfortunately, she didn't read the fine print thoroughly, as her first language is not English, which said the cost will be the minimum estimated price and she also believed the words of the man. After finding out which way these scammers worked, I called and asked if I could get a scaling ticket which shows the actual weight to figure out if it was actually near the 11000lbs. I got a reply that scaling tickets are only given out to loads that come in over the minimum weight and that they adjust the weight and the price only in that situation.

After waiting 4 weeks for our stuff to arrive in Alberta, a 3rd party delivery company showed up with her stuff with a bill for nearly $7000 for 11000 lbs of belongings. As the movers where putting the boxes in our new apartment, I weighed every box coming into the apartment on a professional scale I had borrowed from a friend ,(let me add we did not bring any of her appliances tumble dryer, washing machine , fridge , dish washer ect. All the heavy stuff was left in the condo in Montreal ) we just mainly had clothes and furniture. After adding up the weight of all the boxes and furniture, it came in under 5000lbs!! Not only was the estimated weight overestimated by over 6000lbs but all the boxes that was marked Fragile that we had carefully bubble wrapped and tagged fragile ourselves was damaged or smashed inside, (nearly all of them ). We claimed the damages done to our goods and the holes in the drywall and the broken light switch made by the movers. We had the answer, 4 weeks later after we contact Alliance again because no answer, that this was not covered by there insurance.

Also, while waiting to our stuff to arrived, I contacted them and explained the weight and that we where getting into serious debt starting off in a new place and if they could do a goodwill gesture and reimburse some of the money seems as there weight calculation was so far off which they refused.

Its safe to say I will never use this company again and I hope other people don't have the misfortune of dealing with them. They should be ashamed of themselves blatantly scamming people and holding there belongings hostage .

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7000

Unfortunately, most of the items were damaged and some items were missing. I was hoping to get a more reasonable service from this called triple-A company. In the beginning, they gave me an estimate of 1310 pounds. However, once the driver arrived in a rush, mentioned I do not have time to wait here and discuss anything and you are dealing with this company and not me! Very rude behaviour! They were supposed to give me a scale certificate but simply mentioned that the driver estimated 1810 pounds as per space and time. Called their office in Toronto to ask for a scale certificate several times and finally, someone was supposed to call me and explain the scale certificate. No one called me!

Before signing the contract the manager was very kind and responsive. Once I signed the contract and paid the balance, the story changed. One time, I called their office to talk to the manager and she mentioned that I am not in a good mood and haven't had my coffee yet; showing their professional customer service care! Very interesting!

Also, they cannot do simple math; send me the final bill for more than 5 times each time calculating the weight and final bill wrongly.

I filled out the inventory list in advance but the driver did not have this list and called me a day before pick-up day to ask me about the items that I am going to ship. Interestingly, he mentioned that I have more items comparing with the inventory list that I have filled out but he did not have my list!

No scale certificate was sent to me and once I called their office in Toronto to ask for one, someone told me that will get back to me soon! No one responded. I would never recommend this service to anyone.

Overall, there were some other fragile stuff broken and the way that the items were shipped was not in a professional manner. Basically, I was not supposed to buy insurance for every single item that they were moving but they treated my stuff like waste removal. I submitted a claim form asking for compensation of the damaged item but after more than 10 weeks waiting, they send me a letter that considering the deductible $425 (never has been mentioned in the contract), I am not eligible for a refund based on the basic coverage.

Also, you emailed me 5 times with a miscalculated final total; as mentioned. It sounds that their offices are not coordinated together. I paid the final total in advance but a few days before the delivery date I received a call from their Toronto office asking me to pay the total again! Unfortunately, this is the worst experience that I have had with a moving company. NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE to anyone!

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1382

Almost every single item they moved was damaged. We sat in our new home waiting a month for our furniture and contents to arrive. Nelly`s comment, we`re on time; making her own time up in her head! Brand new boxes damaged beyond belief, new furniture chipped and scratched .2 brand new flat screen tv`s, totally broken, makeup dresser looks like someone smashed it with a hammer. Stainless garbage can, looks like someone used it as a punching bad. Guitar amp GONE! air conditioner broken.The list is endless, I cant believe the amount of damage and nothing in return except an offer of $50.00. Do yourself a favor use anyone else, stay away from these thieves! One of the worst experiences I ever lived. Nice and friendly in the beginning, of course, most completely incompetent moving company in Ontario. I dont even want to give them a star, they deserve a negative number!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6000

I would completely recommend Alliance Van Lines to anybody doing a cross-country move. The driver for this move was Marco, and he had 2 helpers for the pick-up and they were so polite. Initially I had planned on renting or purchasing a trailer to move everything myself, but am so relieved that I found a company that was so affordable (not to mention meticulous) with my smaller load of about 2200lbs. I needed it moved from a small town in BC (Creston, BC) to Montreal without being able to be on the receiving end when the goods arrived at the storage unit. They were incredibly thorough in itemizing everything I was shipping and once I arrived in BC I couldn't believe how organized the storage unit was. I am completely impressed with the quality of service and would recommend them to anyone moving.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $1457

We moved from BC (Kelowna) to (Markham) Ontario in the dead of winter of 2022. We received excellent service. Nelly was our rep and she was great to deal with and extremely responsive. Always had someone respond by phone or email which was great. The packing was well done by courteous professional team. The unloading team were equally professional and worked hard. Jack, our driver, and team leader, was very easy to work with. He kept us informed along the way and took inventory which was great. Left us with a copy once completed. He asked us if we wanted mattress covers and we did want those.

We have moved multiple times and had some very bad experiences but I would recommend this company to anyone. I was very impressed because the final price was close to the original quote which is always a concern when moving long distance.

Winnipeg to East Ontario

Still unpacking, but so far a couple of minor dings to furniture, and one lost but quickly found sofa cushion, delivered the next day, they stayed within the advised pick up and drop dates, & time! Price came to what I was expecting!

Of course Ann first point of contact, made it easy and a pleasure, consideringhow stressedout I was booking last minute such a big move.
