Long-distance move from British Columbia to Nova Scotia

B.C. to Nova Scotia

We"ve moved 12 times, mostly moving ourselves, but across Canada was a big move, and we've all heard the horror stories. Our Quotes came in $2489, up to $19,000 from other high pressure movers, with a U-Haul truck being $18,000. We paid a deposit, once the weight was guesstimated, (within 5% ), got a date for pickup, and they showed up on time, were very professional, everything was tagged and inventoried and were loaded in just over 2 hours and off. Everything arrived unscathed except glass on one picture which we packed with something on top that was a bit heavy. We were given a written estimate, and paid a deposit, to pay the rest once they arrived there, which we did directly to the driver with e-transfers. My wife asked if we should take her mother's fine china in the car, but was told, no need, we treat all your belongings like fine china, which we saw as they loaded the truck. Our move came in just under $8,000, with no headaches or hassle. I would highly recommend this company for your short, and long haul moves.

Cross country move was great experience.

I got many quotes and had great customer service from All Ways. I spoke with Steve, and he explained all the details about their network, and their guarantee. We moved from in a downtown Toronto condo, had a stop in Saskatoon, then the rest of the furniture going to Calgary.

The level of customer service was fabulous. They were friendly with the condo security team, they were attentive to detail in the move, they were friendly and thorough at each of the two drop off sites. I would hire and recommend All Ways moving without hesitation.

The documentation was thorough at each stage of the process.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Alberta

Worst company I've ever dealt with.

Lies..lies..lies.  They will tell you anything to get your business..or not reply at all.  Especially beware of Steve Pothier.  I asked specifically if they would sub-contract my move.  I never received a reply, and they did.  I only found out the morning of the move.  I had sold my house, and I could afford to pay for a good mover.  I thought I had hired a large reputable mover with a US name like All-Ways.  I got a small company by the name of Budget Moving instead.  They weighed my load along with two others that were already on board..so I paid for the whole shipment.  And they probably also charged the other two customers. Three-quarters through loading, they told me they were running out of space.  They pointed to my boxes stacked outside and told me to choose which boxes to leave behind.  They had me sign a blank form for payment that they filled in themselves when they got to their destination.  I only arrived one week after the delivery, and it had been agreed that I would send a blank Visa slip to a delivery contact I had arranged and that he would fill in the amount.  They just did it themselves, and I never to this day have received a receipt for my payment.  All-Ways refuses to give me one because they did not actually do the move.  And I've never heard from Budget.  That was nine months ago.! My furniture was scratched beyond repair, my dining-room table has gouges in it.  So do my brand new bookcases.  Actually, not a single piece of furniture arrived without at least one scratch in it. They broke a mirror, fan, and vacuum cleaner, just for starters.  I had paid All-Ways for extra insurance, and I never received a receipt so I don't know who to claim from.  They probably just pocketed the money. Stay away from All-Ways.  I just looked at my "contract" and there is no quote or ID number on it.  I was had royally by the biggest crooks I have ever come across. .

Excellent experience from start to finish. I have moved often, cross country twice and All Ways has been the best. On time. On budget. All my goods carefully wrapped for safe keeping. Long-distance move from Oshawa, ON to Airdrie, AB

Excellent and Honest Moving Company! A Rare Find!

My husband and I just moved from Oshawa, Ontario to Airdrie, Alberta. We researched over 15 moving companies and ended up going with All Ways moving because of the positive online reviews and due to a word of mouth recommendation. The movers that came into our home took less than two days to pack everything up and load the moving truck. They were friendly and respectful of our furniture and personal belongings. Our belongings arrived in Airdrie a day earlier than expected and they took the time to place boxes and furniture back in the correct locations (kitchen boxes in kitchen, beds in each bedroom etc.). They beat us to Alberta so they even took pictures to confirm if they items they placed in each room were in the right location, and if not, they offered to move them to another room or floor if we desired.
I have unpacked every box and all of our items arrived safely with zero broken items.
Thank you All Ways moving for making our moving experience a positive one!

Move from Ontario to Nova Scotia.

We did extensive research on the moving industry before we booked with All Ways Moving. I admit I was still reluctant as you just never know! We are so happy with our experience from start to finish. Steve was able to give an accurate estimate and we felt like we won the jackpot with Simon as our driver. He is an awesome guy! They arrived on time/they were very courteous with our possessions and everything arrived with no damage. What more could you ask for! Top notch company with top notch employees.

Long-distance move from Calgary, AB to Halifax, NS

The worst.

My move with Allways was a disaster. Don’t believe a word their salesman tells you. I was moving across the country and had heard horror stories about moving companies under-estimating the costs, and then subcontracting to cheaper services. I was assured this wasn’t going to happen, 5 star rating, NS family company, BBB approved, blah blah. The salesman walked by phone with me through my whole house while I described everything, measured everything and counted things. I was given a quote which I signed. I subsequently spoke with the salesman to say that some things hadn’t been packed, and was assured that they’re movers, this is their business, don’t worry, they’ll pack what I missed and we estimated what that would be.

The second you sign the contract you can forget about any service. I booked in advance and had been given a date range for pick up. By a week before this range date started, I was emailing and calling daily to find out when they were going to pick up - no response. Finally TWO DAYS BEFORE I get a call from a cranky sounding sub-contractor who is apparently going to do the move. He didn’t have any packing materials, and had 4 boxes, was really cranky. He was totally unprepared - didn’t have enough room in his truck (by A LOT), and so apparently a second mover was going to show up to get the rest. Who? We aren’t told. Another sub-contractor. So now my stuff is divided between two trucks being carried by a completely different company than the one I hired. When was that second truck going to show up? No one could say. He showed up late in the evening of the following day, by surprise, and packed until 11:30 pm.

Fast forward to delivery day. I’m working that day – so I start calling a few days beforehand to find out when they’re expected as I will arrange to have someone at the storage facility, and I am supposed to have a money order ready when they deliver. They’ve told me it will be more than what they quoted me – Can I get an amount? Nope. Can’t get anyone to return any emails. I finally get the salesman on the phone who sold me this lemon of a service, as I can see he’s passing my emails on to someone – who I am also now emailing – who also never responds, and the salesman says to me – “I’m just the salesman” (ie not my problem). He gives me the name of the owner Paul, so now I am dealing with him. Eventually two movers contact me the day before delivery and tell me I am to have two separate money orders ready payable to them (they’re not even pretending it’s Allways moving anymore). I am now the dispatcher as Allways seems to have abandoned the project.

Both truck drivers tell me they’re delivering first thing the next morning, so I mention to both of them that the other will be there at the same time so they might want to work that out between them – and I give them each others’ number. Mike, the crabby mover from earlier – starts sending crabby text messages to me about how he’s going first, and he’s going to charge me $150 an hour for the time he’s waiting, and that I should have told the other guy he had to wait. I’m reminding them that I am the customer, not the dispatcher, not Allways, and that they need to work it out with each other or work it out through Allways.

I send screen shots of the whole crabby Mike conversation to the owner who does – nothing. So I arrange for the storage place to stay open late and I text the owner to problem solve this - if the guy with the smaller load could deliver tonight, then cranky dude can have his 8:30 am-or-he’s-gonna-explode time slot. So we do this in the pouring rain late into the evening.

Next morning Cranky guy shows up at the storage place at 6:40 am to be first in line – if the second truck had been there I’m really not sure how that would have played out… My son was there to check off the delivery stuff and Mike refused to unload anything without prepayment (this is by the way, illegal). When my son told him that the stuff needs to come off the truck before he’s paid, Mike orders his guys back in the truck and they’re getting ready to drive away with my stuff when my son agrees and gives them the check. (I would have let them go – they had a full truck full of crap and they were on their way to another job). Any pretense of making sure that what went on the truck – came off – is thrown out the window. We have to take whatever they say is ours and we have no recourse.

This was an 8.5k move that now cost me 14k for this ‘service’.

This move was a sh**show from start to finish, no support from Allways – and subcontracted to a couple of random people, one of whom should not be doing this job. They have your stuff hostage. Apparently they can do anything at that point.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

The blatant disregard for belongings is shocking. I have moved cross country 4 times now, and have NEVER experienced the rudeness, unprofessionalism, or lack of preparation.

Our items were practically thrown from the truck they were picked up in, to another truck that would actually be completing the move.

Countless amounts of damaged boxes, unwrapped furniture resulting in major scratches, dents, damage. Not offered mattress bags, mattresses ripped/torn, and completely soaked and ruined from being left in the rain or snow when transferring trucks. Lamps snapped in half. BBQs destroyed. The issues are endless. And still waiting for a resolution....

Attempting to secure moving services

Steve at All-Ways Moving responded with a rough quote and follow up questions. I gave him the required information and awaited his response. After 6 days I emailed him again. He responded with more follow up questions. 2 days later no response. I called him and he treated me like I was inconveniencing him and that he had no idea who I was. He then informed me that there are 20-30 others "just like me" waiting for an end of June move, as if I was stupid to even inquire after his services. He then said he would get back to me soon, as he was on his way to his office. 8 hours later still no response from him.

I really wish Steve would have gotten back to me right away. When I contacted him he was able to the job, by the time he got back to me he was all booked up. When I said I had been waiting on him for over a week to reply he said defensively: “a quote is not a held reservation”.

I was really angered by how I was treated, as if I was an idiot and an inconvenience. I will not be working with All-Movers and I would not recommend their services to any other person.

Highly recommend.

My husband and I moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia this past month. So stressful especially with a pandemic. We called and spoke with Steve. As much as he could talk your ear off? he was very helpful. We were worried about the move and called several times. He re assured and was patient.

The movers… Simon and Jeff were amazing. They showed up when they said they would and delivered when they said they would. They put down runners to protect the new carpets in the house. Their crew on both ends Ontario and especially Nova Scotia also wonderful. The Nova Scotia crew were so good at the end of it I had to hug all of them. So impressed with Simon and Jeff. Great guys.

Everything came in one piece.

I would recommend them “Allways”

Long-distance move from Alberta to New Brunswick

Recently moved from AB to NB.

This is my fourth time using All Ways Moving.

Steve is a talker and I have always dealt with him and my first 3 experiences with All Ways moving has been amazing!

This time, I cannot say it was amazing at all. I was quoted under weight when I provided the list of items in my house and garage to be shipped and that it was also a 5 bedroom home, 2 rec rooms on 2 acres with ride on lawn mower, 2 dune buggies, etc. Remember, I provided a detailed list.

Mover came on the day of the move and he and his team was absolutely amazing. They worked extremely hard and did not just take breaks to take breaks. Very clean and efficient as well (Kudos to Edwin and team). However, Edwin did not have room left and had to call for a second truck. I was under the impression that when I booked with all that was mentioned in the quote, the truck would accommodate everything. Was told the truck would arrive the next day by 11am. Waited and waited the next day and the movers did not show up until 2:30pm. The movers only had about an 1.5hr of work to do but it took them over 3hrs. Keep in mind, I have scheduled my plans around one full day of pick up and now I have to schedule another day off to accommodate the second truck. This second group of loaders (which by the way, both drivers are contracted by All Ways), were ignorant and they left items behind that are mine.

Day of delivery has arrived, again, Edwin and team were absolutely phenomenal and worked aimless to unload and not was time. I get a call from the second dispatcher who states his boys would be there the following day. I receive a call the day of delivery for the second load (drivers were there) by Richard (owners out of Montreal and his company is BBC Moving,514-835-5826,rickbaydar@yahoo.com) asking how am I going to pay. Not a hello, good morning, etc. I said that I would etransfer the money when the boys are done unloading. He begins to yell at me and tell me that if I do not pay, he will call the boys back and they will not unload until he receives payment and hangs up. Not the right thing to do with me. I call him back, I explain that once the boys are done unloading, I will certainly send the money. He then yells at me again stating he is telling the boys to stop and for every half hour they wait for payment, he will charge me $200/hr additional and he hangs up. I call back and say "why are you being such a prick" to which he responds "Because you are a fucking bitch. you better pay me my money you fucking bitch and you have pissed me off'. He kept accusing me of saying I would not pay however I reiterated to him that I said I will pay once the movers were done. I contacted the owner of All Ways moving (John) who is a very nice guy and explained all I have been through. Unfortunatly, I have not received a refund for the things the movers did not take from my home to pack up (which I left behind), the extra fees in gas for the second truck even though I should have't have to pay that as I did not ask for the second truck and told them what to expect via quote and Steve and now I am out 4 days of movers instead of 2. The biggest kicker is that my quote was $14,000 and ended up paying $18, 000. Never again!

Move

We had those guys move our household from Alberta to New Brunswick last year . They took apart several chairs and some other items . When they delivered we asked them where the screws and bolts were . The driver said it was all put in a box . We have opened all of our boxes and have no screws or bolts . We now have a few thousand dollars worth of furniture that we cannot put together as it all has specific fasteners that this company has misplaced. We left messages with the driver and with the representative, Steve , and gotten no reply … DO NOT USE THEM !

So impressed!

We recently moved from Edmonton, AB to Wedgeport, NS and I can't say enough good things about our experience. From our first call to Steve to our drop off by Edwin the process went incredibly smoothly. Everyone we dealt with was honest and upfront, and more importantly friendly and helpful. Edwin and his partner (I'm sorry, but I didn't catch his name!) were professional and respectful of our property. It was also such a relief knowing our belongings stayed on the same truck and were delivered by the same people who loaded it. The price was competitive and fair. I would recommend them to anyone requiring moving services.

Missing items and damage

I used this company to ship our household property from Ontario to Kelowna. I don’t normally leave negative reviews but I am beyond disappointed. The company used a sub contract driver named Trevor. When he arrived at our property, he was in a rush so we entrusted him that all our property had shipped. At the end of unloading and after he received payment, he mentioned that some of our things were damaged in Ontario and that he scrapped them as they were not strong enough to make the trip. Up on further investigation, there is a lot of our things missing a lot of which is very personal. If our property had arrived damaged, I could understand, but the fact that it did not arrive at all and we have to fork out more than $3000 to replace it is heartbreaking. I am extremely disappointed in this company and only wish that they had a google account so I could warn people there too. The fact that they don’t have a google review account should have been my first red flag. Please beware and use a more reputable company. Please check out their Better Business Bureau response to me so that you can see what you are dealing with. They use sub contract drivers with zero accountability.

Long-distance move from Montreal, QC to Edmonton, AB

It's ok

We moved from Quebec to Alberta with them.

In summary, if you don't need fixed dates to leave origin and arrive at your destination, the service is ok.

Our TV stand was probably not wrapped, because it has scratches all over, same for one of the bedroom drawers. Other than that, just minor marks.

On pick up, there were 3 people, so it was fast. On delivery, 2 people, so it took a bit longer - also because of the stairs.

People are nice and the price is between the cheapest and most expensive long distance movers.

The issue with dates: sales explained to us that long distance works with date ranges, which we totally get. So we were given a long range of dates to leave.

After deposit, we were supposed to be given a shorter range of dates in the beginning of the next week, so that we could book a hotel or arrange something.

We called multiple times, and around 5 days later, they put us in contact with a person that would make our move. This person discussed with us a date to leave.

A couple of days later, the date changed because of issues with another customer. Another couple of days, there was no issue anymore and we went back to the original leave date.

Then there was the date to arrive: when talking to sales, we were told the end of the other week would be possible (which would give 10/11 days after pick up). Then the date changed to the beginning of the other week (12/13/14 days after pickup). Then changed again to the end of the week (17 days after pick up).

And we always had to call them to get news about our stuff, with the exception of one call when they said they would arrive at the end of the week (17 days after pick up).

We asked to be earlier, they managed to arrive one day before.

Bottom line, from beginning to end, it took 16 days, which is not bad, but all the changes and we had to keep calling and calling to get news was stressful given our situation. If that's not your case, or if you manage to understand better the dates from the beginning, then it works fine.

Long-distance move from Fort McMurray, AB to Halifax, NS

If I could give Edwin more than 5 stars, I would!

I highly recommend All Ways (All-Ways) Moving and Storage. They were well priced, friendly, professional, and really went the extra mile to salvage items that were damaged when our storage unit flooded (literally saving me thousands of dollars). The final cost matched the estimate that I was given. The company doesn’t have a Facebook page, so I probably never would have found them if they hadn’t been recommended to me.

I connected with All Ways on June 6th and informed them of the predicament I was in (a month prior, our movers didn’t show up for our cross-country move, and we’d been battling with them to get answers and our deposit back). All Ways already had a move scheduled from Fort McMurray to Halifax the following week, and thankfully they still had room on the truck. They gave us an excellent quote/estimate, and we booked with them.

The driver, Edwin, arrived a day earlier than expected. He was very friendly, and very professional. Edwin picked up our belongings from a storage unit. When he opened the door, he discovered that it had flooded during the heavy rain earlier that week. He called me right away to let me know, and he took pictures of everything. A friend of mine also surveyed and confirmed the damage. They figured our mattress (soaked like a sponge despite being wrapped in plastic), upholstered bed frame, some electronics, and a few other things were ruined, but Edwin loaded everything up on the truck anyway. He left Fort McMurray on June 11th, and the moving truck arrived at our doorstep in Halifax at 8am on June 23rd. The timelines that I was given by other companies when I was getting quotes ranged from 2 weeks to 6 weeks (?!?) so the transport time was great. After they moved everything in and left, I noticed that they’d repacked some stuff into huge wardrobe boxes (odds and ends), and that our mattress was wrapped up in new plastic. I was dreading the smell of mouldy mattress when I cut open the plastic it was wrapped in… and I was shocked to find that it didn’t smell, and it wasn’t mouldy. I called Edwin later that day to check in, and I also asked him about the mattress. He’d stopped in his home province for a couple of days, and while there he unloaded the mattress to dry it out and try to save it. He rewrapped in plastic it before loading it back on the truck and making the last leg of the drive. Edwin did successfully save our mattress and a few other things that would have been toast (and very expensive to replace) if they hadn’t been dried out and/or repackaged. He didn’t charge for any of it. He went beyond the extra mile, just out of the kindness of his heart. 12/10 service with Edwin.

Outsourced us to another company

In the beginning working with Steve was great. He was always in contact if we had any issues, and my friend that recommended them had a really great experience.

We booked a few months in advance, and they gave us a flex date between July 1-4 (Steve informed us that they’re called “All ways moving” so the fact that July 1st was a holiday didn’t matter)

We were in contact with the truck driver, and had to keep messaging to get an actual date so we could book the hotels. He told us to choose a day out of the flex date, so we picked Sunday July 2

The movers called us on the 2nd, saying they wouldn’t be there until noon, because they weren’t even supposed to be working (they’re closed on Sunday’s.)

They also told us they weren’t even from All Ways, because they had been outsourced.

I guess they were called at 10:30 the night before, and asked to do the job on their day off.

We had initially chose a package with All Ways that had really good insurance on our stuff, but the company they sent us to had a completely different policy that we never agreed to, but had no choice but to sign.

Anyway, it was really disorganized, and stressful.

The movers that came were great, got the job done quick and efficiently. After that we were supposed to have our stuff delivered pretty quickly, but they kept extending the date on us (another extremely stressful situation)

We were told it would get there July 13-15 initially, but it didn’t show up until the 23rd.

I don’t understand what happened. My friend and her parents both used All Ways and had a positive experience, but after being outsourced by them to a completely different company, after signing everything, and not being told about it, I don’t think I would recommend them.

Garbage moving company

Couldn’t give us a pick up date, and when we asked for more information, we were met with pettiness. They decided because we’d asked (politely, just to clarify) too many times about a specific date, as we needed one to orchestrate other aspects of our move, to drop us with a week before our move out date. Luckily, they gave us a referral to a respectable company that was very open and easy to communicate with. We were given a pick up date straight away.

These guys are a bunch of old men who clearly need to retire. Getting upset because the customer, who is paying a lot of money, requested a date, but s just petty and childish. The way they communicated was simply that: petty and childish.

Can’t recommend these guys to anyone.
