I had a really unpleasant experience using this company this summer to move from North Carolina to Dallas, Texas. I do not recommend that others use these movers. A larger company would have a better customer service team, theoretically, which would have dramatically reduced the stress we endured as we waited for our items to come for over a month.
For some context: they picked up my shipment on Friday, July 13. I told them my first date of availabilty for drop off was Friday, July 20. They say that they do "everything in their power" (literally, a quotation from their documents) to make that first delivery date, but we need to give them 21 days (which is a federal policy, as far as I can tell). On Monday, July 23, they told us our shipment had made it to Dallas, and they were just coordinating a route to drop it off, and it would take "7-10 business days". We asked if we could retrieve some of our items if it was in town, and they said no. Two weeks later, on Monday, August 6, they told us that actually our shipment had never left North Carolina. I asked why they had told me it was in Dallas; they said "we don't know who told you it was in Dallas." On Thursday, August 16, our shipment was still in North Carolina. When I told them that they were very close to missing their 21-business day guarantee, the manger of Customer Service told me that their company had no real incentive to deliver our items on time because they only compensate customers $10/day for late delivery, and it wasn't financially worth it to them to rush our move. On Friday, August 17, our lawyer got in touch with them. On Tuesday, August 21 (22 business days later, and after hours--movers left our house at 10:30 pm!), we received our shipment with three hours notice (legally, they are required to give 24 hours notice, but this is by far my smallest complaint). Fortunately, our shipment was in relatively good condition: only a lamp was broken.
Like others, they underestimated the cost of our move. They estimated $2900; actual cost was about $4000. The booker (Josh Parks) guaranteed to me that there would be no way that they would overestimate the cost; obviously, this was a lie. He also told me that he would be reachable and that I should never hesitate to contact him! But of course, once we got to Dallas, he asked me to stop contacting him because his part of the deal was over.
So while I am relieved to finally have my stuff and very relieved that it is in pretty good condition (which upon reading reviews, I realize makes me pretty lucky!), the amount of stress my partner and I endured as we left voicemails that were never returned, asked for updates only to learn that there was "no update," and were told point blank that delivering our items on time was not a priority for the company was far too high. The "track your shipment" function on their website is a joke. Throughout the move, I felt no security that I would receive my items in a timely manner (and indeed, I didn't). When I asked them why they never returned voicemails, why they never responded to emails, I was met with silence. The company never acknowledged or apologized for making us wait. I also have no idea if I would still be waiting for my items if a lawyer had never called.
The mover who finally delivered our items was pretty rude. When he arrived, he complained at length about the traffic downtown ("I didn't know you lived downtown!!") (I don't live downtown). Then he pushed me to just "eyeball" my items and not check them off on the list so that he could leave sooner because it was late (I did not ask him to show up at 7:30 pm). I told him that I would do no such thing and would absolutely check off every item. He told me about how he had multiple heart attacks in the last month and shouldn't be lifting items. He chastised me for happily flopping on my couch when it finally arrived because "he can't rest because he's still working." I reminded him that it was because of his company that I had been sleeping on an air mattress for a month, and I would certainly flop on a couch as happily as I pleased. At the end as my partner and I went over the list and saw that a few items were not checked off, he was like "yeah yeah, it's all here, don't worry about it." I told him that I was hesitant to sign off on the delivery until I checked the integrity of the items inside the boxes. He very gruffly told us that his company was not responsible for any items that we ourselves had packed. In the meanwhile, boxes we had marked as fragile were clearly smushed and delivered upside down. It was very clear that this company takes no care of items.
Mislead!! Repeatedly told they were NOT brokers. They are!! Don’t be fooled. They won’t help you! The price of course increases at pickup.
We moved from two different states. One of us has a mover that won’t even tell where their belongings are or when they will get them. If you reach anyone on the phone your lucky butnit won’t matter they won’t do anything that’s helpful and will forget the next day they spoke to you even. Emails won’t be answered. They don’t like bad reviews, they call you out on I. Unprofessional company! Don’t use them save yourself the stress of not knowing where your belongings are.
