I used them to move my mom from NYC to Los Angeles area. They took our stuff to storage for about a month and then delivered to my house in CA. Both pick up and delivery crews were nothing but professional, careful about our stuff, polite and friendly. My mom was nervous about the move because last time she moved was around 25 years ago or so and you know how it is for older folks, but everything went smooth. I will no doubt hire the same moving company for my future move. They know what they doing.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2700

I found active moving info from moving.com. I checked them out on BBB rating and other websites rating and they had decent ratings but unfortunately I can't give them a good rating for the following reasons. I recently moved from Jersey City, NJ to Morrisville, NC. I was initially contacted by Ivan Parks. They never came to my house to check out the stuff that I will be moving. I emailed Ivan couple of pics of my furniture and other stuff and he gave me an initial quote over the phone. After negotiation Ivan said the final price is $2600 which includes packing two mirrors and TV also including 1 flight of stairs. I specifically asked will there be any surprises and he said no. The $2600 will not change. I asked if I can use trash bags for my clothes and he said no problem. I did get other quotes from other companies and all of them were higher than Active Moving's. When the day of the moving came on July 4th, they came on time early in the morning and this guy named Alex came and looked at my stuff and he said he will have to call the office to get a quote because its a lot of stuff! The quote he gave me on the spot is $4600 and he won't charge me for the stairs! I was so shocked I lost the appetite to talk to Alex. I reluctantly agreed because I had join my office on the 8th. I asked when will I receive my stuff and Alex said most likely next Monday which is the 8th but there is no guarantee. They charged me $2300 on my credit card and said I will have to pay half when I receive my stuff. I called them on the 7th to get a status update and the lady on the phone said most likely on the 10th my stuff will arrive but someone will call me the day before the delivery. Wednesday came and then came Thursday and Friday, nobody called, nobody delivered. I called and the girl said our stuff is in the trailer and will be delivered by Friday. What BS! We were sleeping on the floor and eating on the floor. Thankfully wife brought 2 blankets and 2 pillows. My kids used 2 pillows and I brought 1 more from walmart for my wife and I was using a bag full of clothes as my pillow. We were so frustrated and miserable. Finally on Saturday the 13th Alex called and he said our stuff will be delivered the next day on the 14th. I asked where is my stuff and he said they are still in NJ. I just couldn't believe my ears! Finally after 10 days, two guys show up on the 14th around 9am and guess what they want their remaining balance of $2300 in cash before they start unloading. I said deliver my stuff and I will pay you. This guy said he can't deliver until he gets the money, its the company policy and he adds that his company is the best! I said no I'm the best because I'm paying you even before you moved in a single thing. So I gave them 23 100 dollar bills and they started to unload. the guy said they can only put 1 furniture only once and will not move them twice. After unloading they didn't want to re-assemble the bed and table. I said you guys have the screws and nuts and bolts and Alex said that you will re-assemble. The other guy calmed him down and finally both agreed to put my furniture together. My advice to any of you looking to hire Active Moving. Do no believe anything they say. Do not fall in their low price offer trap. Stick with a company that comes to your house and gives you an estimate. These guys should not be conducting any business and shouldn't be allowed to rip off general public.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4600

Excellent service from start to finish. All items accounted for and I am beyond thrilled my terracotta warrior made it to the destination totally unscathed - along with everything else. I have to mention the exemplary friendliness & professional tailored services we received from Serge, Ivan and the team at Active moving. I had done extensive research in moving companies prior to our move as our budget was tight & I chose Active after inviting more than 7 companies to tender for our business, I was able to discuss with Ivan all the nitty gritty bits of shipping and it's complexities. There was no subject this team could not advise me on and they really did seem to care. After my shipping was packed up & left the house It occurred to me that evening I had not shipped some items in a cupboard we hadn't checked & I messaged Ivan to explain my error, the following day Serge came to my home & personally packed the items I had forgotten at no extra cost to me - I was so appreciative & he explained that "it's all part of the service, that these things happen when large houses are being packed up so no worries" WOW I am recommending this company to everyone. I have in the past received extremely bad service shipping goods with a larger well known company & was both anxious and adamant this time I was going to pick wisely. I am so glad I chose Active moving I have not been disappointed. Thank you for taking the stress out of our move.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $9600

Finding mover in New York is a gold. My moving crew was excellent. No standing and chatting. They were very careful with our items and nothing got damaged. This was probably my best move so far. Be sure to give them the most accurate list of items possible. My price went up about 10% because I've increased the amount of items comparing to what I've given them over the phone. But this was well compensated by their professionalism. I highly recommend this company.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1750

The movers were super professional and helpful. They made sure our stuff is wrapped and packaged and nothing would get damaged. Also they fixed our stuff in the truck nicely and nothing knocked around or fell. It was three men crew and the whole move took only 6 hrs even though it was 2 bedroom apartment and some stairs and driving was involved. The price we agreed on didn't go up and we were very happy with the movers in general. They left a light scratch on the wall but reimbursed the cost for repair. Kudos to the movers!

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $750

I went on the internet and I was looking for moving companies to move my small studio apartment into a much larger apartment. I had a very bad experience with another moving company moving my wife's belongings out of her apartment a year ago so I was very concerned about finding company that I could trust and that had good customer service. I made a phone call and was immediately connected to representative which was nice and he was able to ask me all the questions I needed to answer as far as the size of the apartment how many things were in the apartment basically to get a good idea of the size of the move and giving him the ability to give me a pretty clear estimate of the costs that we're going to be associated with the move. On the moving day the movers were early which was very nice they were very fast very polite and I think they kind of went above and beyond what I would expect from a normal group of movers. I really had been a little behind on packing and they made sure that I had gathered up all the belongings that I may be forgotten. I would definitely recommend them. I felt like their customer service was very good. They were quick and polite which was nice. If somebody came to me I would definitely recommend they speak to Active movers give them their situation and would be confident that they'd be happy with their experience.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $700

I have utilized Active Moving for my move to Los Angeles. I have four children a big home and a mother-in-law that needed a move also. She's helped us with three generations of moves. So we were moving a ninety eight year old lady to a daycare place and my move which was an initial move to California. Also we were dispersing the furniture to the four children in four different locations. I cannot say enough about somebody taking an impossible task and turning it into an extreme pleasure. I worked with the same people each time and there is a camaraderie and pleasantness that has made it enjoyable believe it or not. It was an overwhelming task and to watch these people take my treasures and treat them as such and not as a bunch of stuff has been most rewarding. They have done everything they could to make my schedule THE schedule. My children are all likewise pleased with how their parents are being treated one of the unusual traits I find is that if there is an issue they pointed out to me instead of me having to point it out to them and they fix it. It's nothing that's happened that was not fixable and rapidly taken care of. Our move exceeded our expectations. I hope you are lucky enough to have a chance to work with them.

Their estimate for moving our stuff from the NY to CA was very good comparing to other movers. The service they provide was good. I had to call them few times to see updates on when our things would be delivered, however they made it on time. The only hiccup we had was when our things were collected by the driver in NY. He claimed we used more space than agreed however we brought it up with the office and our contact who cleared it up straight away. Our things came in about two weeks which wasn’t a surprise due to us only having a part load. The driver was friendly, we were contacted to be informed of the relevant time that he was arrived and he was on time. All in all the experience wasn’t too bad and I would use this company again.

I asked for a few quotes from different movers and Active was one of them. It wasn’t the cheapest but the guy on the phone sounded professional, gave me a heads up on few things so I’ve figured I’ll go with them. Their estimator coming to my house to provide a firm quote was professional and courteous and all my emails were promptly replied.
My moving and packing crew was also very good and all my stuff arrived safely and within the expected timeframe. This was important, as I had to start my new job. I definitely recommend Active to anyone in need of a moving and professional packing service.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $4200

Active moving provided an excellent service to me and my family at a very reasonable price. Alex and his team were the most friendly and reliable movers we had the pleasure to meet. They had a fully packed truck (to the cealing) which they packed and transported safely. They also handled our upright piano and few bulky items. Very hard working guys. It was also cold and nasty weather outside but they worked with a smile. They definitely made a stressful time less hard for us. Thank you.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $900

From my phone contact, Ivan, to the on-site estimate by Vitaly to each of the guys who loaded the truck, including Vitaly, to the driver of the truck, Roman, everybody was polite and worked hard to safeguard the items moved.

The crew arrived on-time to pack and the delivery was made as promised a few days later than the company would have liked but as we requested.

We have unpacked about 90% of what they moved and there have been no damages that we have seen.

I would use Active Moving again should I require movers in the future.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $5100

This company came recommended by my real state agent who used them few times already. The owner of the business stopped by the next day after the initial call and made an onsite inspection of what needed to be done. The move was planned 2 weeks in advance and they brought boxes an packing supplies so we could start packing things. On the day of move our team was really hard working, friendly and polite. The move was finished even earlier than planned. One of my best moving experiences.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1400

Booked a move from Walden NY to Clarksville TN, price quoted was not what the actual price turned out to be. Was quoted a price for 450 cu ft with the understanding when they picked up my stuff the price would be adjusted.

They came to pick up my things and my wife was there to let them take the stuff. They turned around and told here it was 500 cu ft (an additional 50 cu ft). Basically they took advantage of my wife and I had no choice at this point because I was already down in Tennessee. I told the person picking up the load that there was no way it was more than what the estimate was and that I would be measuring the load when it got delivered. When the load got to Tennessee and I measured it it was actually less than 400 cu ft. So instead of getting a reduction on the job like what was told to me it was increased by $400. Again I had to pay the delivery guys or they wouldn't unload my stuff.

I took pictures of how much space the load took up on the truck and had the driver sign the paperwork stating the load was less than 400 cu ft so I could get money back on the move. Well you can imagine the run around I received from the sales person and the owner when I tried to get my money back.

I wouldn't recommend using this company because they try to rip you off and don't honor their word. They will tell you anything to get you to use them and then turn their back when you catch them lying about the actual load. Two weeks later and I still haven't gotten anyone to tell me what they are going to do about over charging me.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $2278

Active Moving has zero honor, zero professionalism, and is the worst kind of deceitful, dishonest operator in this business. I had an awful experience with Active, the worst possible kind and a cautionary tale for other potential customers.

I had looked at previous reviews across the internet. For the handful of bad reviews, I chalked it up on inexperienced movers who prepared poorly. I smugly believed that as an experienced mover (I've moved multiple times long distance - Boston-Miami and Miami-Philly), I was better equipped against any surprises. I was wrong. What others described as bait & switch and extortion pricing was exactly what happened to me also. It was horrible and vile and evil. The absolute WORST moving experience I've ever had, over the 11 moves I've done in the last 20 years.

I scheduled my move 6 weeks ahead of time. It was structured on a volume basis (per cf), and had one 'origin' fee for a shuttle truck pickup. Not a tractor trailor, a 26' truck for pickup. The booker Ivan assured me there were no other fees or surprises. No long carry. No packing fees. Irrelevant, he said. Volume was the only variable. I estimated 530 cf. If there was more, I would pay more on a per-cf basis at the agreed-upon rate of $3.50 per cf. Ivan: "We have our own trucks. Surprises only happen with bookers. We're not a booker."

The day before the move, we had a call to confirm. At that point, I knew I had extra boxes (50-80 cf) and told Ivan as much. Ivan: "No problem. We just apply the rate as agreed of $3.50 per cf."

On the day of the move, Active was scheduled to arrive at 9am. The foreman Vitaly (just him) didn't show up until 10:19am in a small van. No call for a heads-up. No team in sight. I wasn't so much perturbed by the late arrival - but him showing up by himself and his attitude were a hint of trouble ahead.

Vitaly took one look at my apartment, and said he needed to call the office, and disappeared. "Your quote was wrong." He came back, eyeballed the whole thing, and said "750 cf and the total is now $3,500." 75% higher than the estimate. The previous per-cf rate thrown out and ignored. No details of fees, since he threw out a long carry in his grumble. Just a round number of $3,500. "I've been doing this for 20 years. I know." Well, I can measure and count boxes. There was no way I had 750 cf, and what happened to the previous structure of the move estimate? There's a simple workaround - let's just load it and measure. That's what happened with all my other long-distance movers. The trucks are marked to easily measure cf. Vitaly refused to agree to a measurement. Who does that?!? If I'm wrong, fine, I'll pay. But there was no way I was wrong. And he knew it. Even if there was 750 cf, my total would've been $3,000. Vitaly didn't care about any of it. $3,500.

And then "the game" began. Ivan the booker, who was MIA, suddenly re-appeared on the phone and called to say it was out of his hands. Good cop bad cop. "So, that's the deal. Vitaly is on the ground and has final say. Take it or leave it?" I decline because the price jump was so egregious. He calls back 15 minutes later, and offers a $100 discount. What??? I ask again about our previous structure, and tell him Vitaly left already. Ivan: "No. He's nearby. The team is waiting." I decline. Ivan calls me one final time after another another 30 minutes, and offers a discounted total of $3,300. Again, totally ignores the previous per-cf structure and refuses to do a measurement. Some excuse that they have a tractor trailor. (What happened to the 26' truck??) Ivan: "I try to help you out, man." No... you're just being a bad person.

This is Active's game. They quote you something they have zero intention of honoring. And then, on the day of the move, try to extort you. They purposefully play good cop bad cop / cat and mouse. It's just evil and traumatic for a long-distance move. All my asks were reasonable, and they refused. Just shady. Avoid these guys.

My move went incredibly smooth and professional. I’ve received many instructions from the office on how to prepare most of the items for the long distance trip myself and was about 90% ready when the pick up team arrived. The movers took care of everything that needed special attention and they were also very skillful and polite. I met my stuff a week late and all the items were in pristine condition. I am so happy with my choice of the moving company and will continue using their service in the future.
