Sinclair Moving & Storage

Sinclair was recommended to me by a local mover I used several times over the years – but as we are moving NJ to FLA, we needed a long-distance mover. A sales rep – Jason – came out on a Monday to assess our move and told us he would send us a quote within a few days. At the end of the week, when I still hadn’t received a quote, I emailed him. He replied that he used the wrong email address and would forward the quote immediately. 2 days later- still no quote. I emailed him again – and still have not received a reply. A full 2 weeks later, I called into their office to ask why I couldn’t get a quote. The receptionist took my information- confirmed that they had the right email and phone number in their file and said she’d look into it and get back to me. I still have not receive any reply from the sales rep or the receptionist.
If our move was too small, and they didn’t want to be bothered, they could have just said, we don’t do small moves – but to give someone the run around and a bunch of BS is just bad business. I can’t even imagine how badly they’d organize a move if they can’t organize a simple quote. So, I can't review their moving services – because I never had a chance. But I can say their customer service and communication is horrible!

Mayflower/Sinclair was outstanding in every way!
They moved my elderly Mom and Dad's belongings and furniture with care, professionalism and understanding that moving can be a traumatic experience for older people.
The Moving Men were timely,VERY hard working and most of all friendly,polite and receptive to my parents needs.
They made the move easy and smooth for all of us.
All this and a great price too!
I recommend Mayflower/Sin-clair HIGHLY for everyones move.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $900

I'm not one to write negative reviews on yelp, but I did a lot research before selecting a mover for my cross country move and thought this was a company that was ethical and would be worth paying a premium for. I couldn't have been more wrong. I wanted to outline a few reasons why I regret selecting this mover in the hopes that it will save someone else from making the mistake I did.

1. I received a quote for my move after an initial video call with Cecelia Lupton. She gave me a price that I agreed to and then 2 days before my move... when there was no possible option for me to find another mover...they raised the price $400.

2. They also made me pay a warehousing/storage fee based on when I could close on my house and have my things delivered. The criminal part about this was that they then delivered my things late! I had to pay an incremental $450 when it was going to have to sit in a storage facility based on their driver availability anyway! Truly classy.

3. Customer service has been absolutely terrible. I have had to call 5 times to get them to send me the form I need to submit for all the things they broke! Still haven't received it!

Save your hard earned money for a company that can actually deliver your things on time and won't screw you over by taking up the estimate 2 days before your move.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $8200

I don't move often. When I do, I am overwhelmed with who I am going to pick and will I get a fair deal. I worry about who is coming to move me. What are they like. Do the actual movers operate as well as the people on the phone who sold me?

Sinclair was exceptional. So much so, here I am writing this. The crew - Ed, Ed Jr. and Girardo were professional, friendly, polite and operated with a sense of urgency. We all know moving can be an intense experience, but these guys made it just another day in pandemic paradise.

The end to end experience working with Sinclair was exceptional and I only hope I have said enough to have you stop reading this and give them a call now.

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1500

We were misled by Sinclair's claims to be a "premier" mover with management, sales and staff providing the "highest level of prompt, courteous service. " Nothing could be further from the truth. Sinclair and Mayflower stubbornly refuse to pay for the damage they caused.

Do not be persuaded by Cecilia to pay a premium for "Full Value" Protection. When the Sinclair/Mayflower packers and driver damaged and destroyed our precious possessions, they took two months to respond to the claim and then started looking for loopholes to deny coverage. Most importantly, owner Bob Reeves and Mayflower will claim that they are not responsible for damage to any item that has "internal moving parts or mechanisms." That's right, when Sinclair's packers tossed my cherished turntable into a box without properly securing it, AND packed the wall mounted open face art clocks without removing the batteries thus destroying the clockworks, Bob Reeves and Mayflower denied the claim. So forget about being compensated for damage to your computers, kitchen appliances, televisions, etc.

We paid Sinclair to pack. Their packers showed up short staffed and without sufficient packing materials to complete the job. We promptly called Cecelia and Julia at the main office and were assured they would rectify the problem-nothing happened. I had to make a late night run to the hardware store to purchase additional boxes and packing materials and my wife and I worked late into the night and the entire next day after the driver arrived packing up the items Sinclair failed to pack. Sinclair, Mayflower and Bob Reeves refused to pay the claim for services not performed. By the way, Sinclair's packing job was terrible resulting in thousands of dollars in damage.

Mayflower, Sinclair and Bob Reeves did not pay for missing items. If Sinclair packs, you may not know an item is missing until you unpack all the boxes and that takes time. The mover takes the position that if you do not get the driver to acknowledge in writing that something is missing upon arrival or if you sign the driver's iPad form simply acknowledging the delivery, you have waived any right for compensation for missing or lost items.

Next, do not believe Cecelia when she tells you that damage claims may be filed up to nine months after delivery. Not true-certain claims must be filed within 60 days or a shorter period. If the driver and his crew damage your new home, you must report that claim to the driver before the driver leaves, even if you do not see the damage until later.

When we filed our claim for damages it was assigned to Unigroup Claims Team 9 where it sat for months. It appears that the team is well trained to delay and deny. Although Mayflower has offered to partially pay the claim, they stubbornly refuse to pay the balance. We have made phone calls and sent emails to Cindy Reynolds, Te'area Griffin, Fortune Akannan, along with Cecelia, and the office staff at Sinclair. Bob Reeves promised to call back and we never heard from him. Mayflower is only willing to send the matter to arbitration with an arbitrator selected and compensated by the moving industry.

Many promises made, none fulfilled.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $15000

Should have posted this sooner, but this is a move from December 2020. At best, I know moving is difficult and stressful;; however, the employees of Sinclair who moved me made things almost intolerable.

Upon arriving, the first employee who came into my home to survey the move did not wear a mask and was not friendly and had no idea where to begin. The rest of the crew entered. Just to give you some background; there was snow, ice and rock salt from the previous night’s snowfall. They made no attempt to cover the floors or the staircase, resulting in salt and water everywhere. They showed no concern. They were also outside smoking and having a loud conversation which included multiple profanities. They moved my furniture with no regard for the items, the walls, and anything else that came in their way, resulting in a broken window blind slat, and scuffs on the walls. They also used the bathroom multiple times as if it was a public restroom and were in for long periods of time. The wood floors were so wet, I had to mop them so they would not get damaged.

Upon arrival to my new home, I informed the “team” that I did not want my new home to be treated with the same disregard as my old home was. He angrily stated, “We can’t help our feet!” I asked if they had mats or anything to cover the floor. He shouted to another member to see if they had any runners. They put a few runners down. Again, there was no regard for property or safety and I had to remind them to put masks on. My Tv’s were not put in boxes, as I was charged for, but rather carried by hand and a blanket thrown on top of them. No wardrobe was provided either, as promised, and was carried out by hand and thrown on the truck somewhere that smelled like camphor.

The move continued on, and at the end I was told I would be charged for an extra hour. When the employee called the office, he was told not to charge me. Since there was significant damage to my walls, I asked how it was going to be addressed. I was rudely told that it would be in his report and someone would call me. The damages were never disclosed to me by any of the movers and when I mentioned it, not even an apology was offered. It seemed to them to be not a big deal.

It seems as though the employees who moved me had no prior experience. No weight belts, their pants were falling down, and they had no idea how to handle heavy and bulky items without screaming and making a scene. Again, COVID protocols were not addressed nor acknowledged.

I was even charged an extra hour. I only moved a few houses down the block and had a minimal amount of items. I was very dissatisfied, to say the least, with my experience and would not recommend this company to anyone.
