Simple Moving Labor

Move was fine but had several very expensive antique pieces that were destroyed in the move and I am hoping to have them refinished..very disappointing.  They wanted to take pictures after they broke the item and then say they were already broken, but I know they were not and you could tell it was just done with new break. They were nice enough guys, didn't talk to them much as we were moving..we just did a load a truck at storage unit..so only had them for 3 hours.. got charged for an extra hour which really ticked me off as the movers were to be there between 10-11 and showed up at 10:50..the extra 15 minutes should not have been billed for an hour.. Problem is after it is over, you are "over it" and not worth complaining about it ..would I use the service again..not sure..didn't like the automatic extra bill for time that was not and should not have been billed..were the guys good, they were average..it's over..that is a good thing.        .

Working with the SML company representatives was a wonderful experience! Working with contractors--labor was okay. The 'Professional' crew worked hard (7 hr.), however we experienced problems with communication; packing the truck was a challenge but too much weight was placed on tubs and boxes that could not handle the load..resulting in damage to them. Also, items were left unpacked and not loaded..without consultation..We eventually worked it out. I expected Professional movers to be better prepared to pack correctly. Also, the crew leader left and was replaced with a new crew member mid-way through the move so the instructions and detail communicated to the 'leader' were lost in translation..we had to start over and it took a while to get things going properly.

Unloading was staffed by a helper crew, packing into a storage unit. The crew was helpful, working alongside my family members. Some members of crew lagged behind others in working as a team..required (too) much direction and supervision to manage all four productively. Too much down time standing around instead of pitching in to assist with tasks..unfocused effort..not using tools moving one box around to different places instead of a stack with available hand truck. Some tools used to unpack were not left behind..when I realized the crew was standing around watching us finish the packing..I stopped the clock.

It was a big move (26 ft truck 7 hr pack and unpack) and I appreciated the labor of SML crews. If I need help again, I will learn from this experience to get better results.

We used SML at 2 locations On 2 consecutive days..It was such a great help.. They were professional and very pleasant to work with.. they completed their task in the alloted time..
They were very courteous. We couldn't have done it without them.. I would highly recommend using this service.. also they showed up at the agreed time..the company stayed in touch to be sure all was going as planned. And they stayed connected with us throughout the move.. we were very satisfied with our experience..

Based on the 'loading' end in Virginia I would give a twenty on a scale of 1-10. The crew arrived a half hour ahead of schedule..took appropriate care with wrapping of our belongings and the packing of the truck..they finished in two hours..which was less than the three hour minimum. Based on the "loading from a storage unit and unloading at the home" end of the move in SC, I would provide a rating of three on the 1-10 scale. They were already an hour late (outside of the one hour 'grace' window) before they even called to say they were a half hour away. It then took them an additional hour to arrive..so we started two hours late. The crew's wrapping and packing skills were poor and I found myself advising them on several items. It was hot and they worked hard through the heat, but I was struck by the fact that they needed one more crew member. At the end, it took four hours to offload a truck that took three hours to pack. I would likely use SML again, but it would depend strongly on the location of the crew.  .
