Public Moving Services

I move a lot due to my job. I've had a few bad experiences in the past. However after speaking with my moving consultant James McCarthy and realizing that he covered every aspect of the move so that there would be nothing that I would be surprised about. He did a thorough inventory with went over things that I should pack to save money and items that he recommended having them pack. On the day of the move the movers should up within the time window that I was told. The movers were fantastic. They were clean, very professional, and did an all around great job. My stuff got delivered within n the window James told me. The delivery was even smoother. I have all ready told the owner of my company and we will be using Public Moving Services for the rest of our company moves. I would definitely recommend Public Moving Services.

TOTAL DISASTER!!
I used Public moving services to move all my household items. A crew of 3 came in enterprise rental truck on 06/25/17 to pickup my items from Texas. They used a 3rd party to transit all my household stuff. All my items were moved on a passenger van with only one person (driver). He came at 9.30 pm on 07/12/2017 to deliver. My king and queen mattress were shrink wrapped and they both were torn and has tire marks on all sides.
During delivery, the driver did not want to assemble my bed (both king and queen) and did not take my mattresses (king and queen) to the bedroom as well. He left everything in the living area. He told its already 12.10 am and am tired and I will not assemble the beds or take the mattress to the bedrooms. He also did not bring my couch inside my apartment and he told he cannot take it all by himself. When offered help, he told I am already tired and cannot maneuver it and left my couch in the corridor of my apartment building.
When I called the claims department of Public moving services, it was answered by a customer care and they don't want to solve the issue. She (customer care) was very rude in responding and told me that claims will contact you and you have no means to contact them.
My move is not complete and they (public moving services) don't want to answer my calls or solve my problem. I have been trying to call them for 2 days now and looks like this issue is never going to get addressed/resolved.

I haven't got experience with this company but my father has. He moved more than 10 times in last 7 years. A couple of times he moved by himself, but at this time he decided to use a moving company ( he wants to move his staff to Florida for summer) He didn't have a lot of furniture , but you know they are very antiques, so he asked guys to be very careful with them. And you know what?) my dad sad that he never see such a great packing service before. They spend around 3 hours for pack everything and less then 1 hour to put all his staff in truck. On delivery he also didn't have any problems, all his staff was save.

My wife and I literally cried because of our experience with Public Moving Services.

They grossly mis-estimated our home after we inventoried everything, room by room--three times. The initial quote was for $3,700 for about 1000 cubic feet of our belongings. The day before the move, we re-inventories everything and the cubic feet was increased to about 1,300 cubic feet and $5,700. Because of the stories we had heard of moving companies, we planned for double that. The final shipment was 2,300 cubic feet (2.3 times the initial estimate), but somehow our bill ended up more than $12,000!! (3.2 times as much as the inital estimate). They had given us an guaranteed binding estimate but never gave us an updated estimate on the day of the move (as we later discovered is required by the North Carolina Public Utilities Commission http://www.ncuc.commerce.state.nc.us/consumer/transportation/ConsumerGuide.htm).

When we disputed the charges, they literally drove away with our entire household and held our items hostage until we paid the bill.

We had decided to use a moving company to "treat" ourselves with this exciting transition. We'll never do that again. We spent the bulk of what was supposed to be our family's summer road trip with our kids on the phone trying to negotiate with these moving "hijackers".
