Initially all seemed well with PSS Internationals, they quoted a fair price although significantly underestimated the volume required (however it was by skype).

However, the nightmare started post removal. First of all they clearly do not hedge or book the currency and freight when you actually confirm the booking as they then charged an extra £300 for currency and freight adjustment. They then booked a local agent that was not adequately equiped for delivieries of large loads i.e no vans with lifting tail gates. (we had a piano which they said they required a crane for, which is the first time in 6 moves).

They lost 7 boxes which they offered no explanation on and I had to chase for updates. They seemed to have no interest in finding them or prticularly bothered that they lost them. And despite having to pay 4% charge they offered £400 in return for which they deduct £100 service cost!

I would avoid this company at all costs if you wish to see all your belongings join you in your new home!

So, PSS International Removals, the clown outfit who were paid thousands of pounds to ship our possessions…who broke several of our items and whose member of staff stole….yes, I am certain, stole, two rings at a value of £15,000 from our belongings, have got away with it scott free.

The insurers they use have taken 3 months to assess and advise they will not be paying the claim. Not just for the rings, but for all of the broken items too.

The service offered by PSS and their insurers has been utterly disgraceful and I would urge anyone looking to use them for international removals, to think long and hard and look at the alternatives. Those two rings were from my first marriage and have been in that ring box for 12 years….they were kept as part of the inheritance to my son, as they were given to me by his dad. I hope that disgusting boy, the one who spent all day whining about his low pay and never seeing his children because of the hours he was expected to work, got a fair price for them when he sold them. There is no price for the memories that went with them ?

So thank you PSS and the Removal Claims Service at the Swan Centre in Leatherhead. You have utterly failed us and left me distraught at the loss of such treasured items. To think I bothered to let PSS know I had tested positive for COVID for the packer’s safety, and gave all of them a cash tip.

You totally oversold yourself and let us down badly. If I had not been so ill with COVID that day, I might have had the sense not to pack the rings. Several other items are also missing but were not realised until the 30 day deadline for claims had passed…..and that’s how you get away with it isn’t it? Most people have not even unpacked properly by then.

For a professional mover they do not go out of their way to do anything proactively.

They took days to reply to calls (as my dedicated move manager was always on the phone), or days to reply to emails.

They did not check eligibility for me to ship my goods, turns out I had the wrong VISA for the customs paperwork, but of course this was only discovered at the last minute leading to a cancelation fee for a pickup that NEVER even happened.

PSS expect YOU to know the processes and procedures to ship goods internationally, that was the reason for hiring them to do the job but when they don't do things correctly be ready to pickup extra costs (in PSS imposed fines!).

I tracked my kit (Apple tags are great) and could see it was sitting in their warehouse for over 8 weeks before shipping by then "global prices had risen" so I got a further invoice for increased shipping fees.

In my world when you hire someone to do a job they

a) Go though a checklist to ensure everything is ok before things kick off

b) Give you a quote that's final.

c) Keep you informed about what is going on, in this case where are my items at every step

You will get NONE of these from PSS so BE WARNED

I contacted PSS because a friend recommended them for my move from London to Florida.

PSS gave me a 'Door to door quote' for my shipment. They collected my boxes in November and told me that they would be delivered to Florida sometime in January.

In their quote they specifically requested that I keep my boxes under 30 kg each otherwise I would incur an overweight surcharge.

Fast forward to June and my boxes were finally delivered. They were is a really bad shape, late, beaten up and broken, but at least they arrived.

PSS contracted an American company to pick up my belongings from the port and deliver them to my home.

Between PSS and their American counterpart, I was asked to pay random and unexpected, additional charges 4 times.

The most frustrating part was that PSS had contracted a lower weight allowance, with this American company, than what they had agreed with me, so I got an email from the American Shipper essentially explaining to me that they were holding my belonging ransom and unless I paid the additional costs, I wouldn't see my boxes.

I made several unsuccessful attempts to communicate to PSS that this charge constituted a breach of our contact, but they replied that the 30 kg allowance per box was only for pickup, it didn't apply once my boxes got to America...

An important detail they forgot to mention when they quoted me.

In short I ended up paying about double the initial quote.

I noticed that the reviews of many customers share a similar experience.

My best recommendation is that you try and find a professional company that's not going to blackmail you to extort more money from you.

Please read all the negative reviews and you will see one very disturbing pattern it all involved holding goods for ransom for huge additional poorly explained charges

I am settled and can reflect on the issue

In the end I have come back and given them the lowest possible rating

This relates to shipping a container from UK to Canada

PSS started by sending someone out to look who was very professional and reminded me that they been around for a long time and indeed have a look at their rating(now i can see most are invited!!)

He was nice ,gave a good quote and me and my friend went with them(going to 2 different countries)

It was downhill after that .You get a move manager whose sole job is to demand more money .

Whatever was quoted is about half of what they plan to get from you and will hold your goods for ransom till they squeeze all they can

When you demand invoices as they blame the shipping line for "sudden" price hikes they sent you a picture of the ship that is carrying your goods!

Yes,no kidding no invoice from the shipping company they used just a picture of the ship!

Only invoice you get to explain their price hike almost double of the quote is theirs and as mentioned a picture of a ship

Why they cannot produce evidence of the shipping company they used to freight the goods I leave to your judgement

What is remarkable is other people who shipped with other companies during same period to same country did not get this price hike and got their good sooner.

Delays upon delays and oh did I mention they charge you for their delays and again yes you either pay or we hold your goods

They rely on the fact a lot of the people who they do this to are moving abroad and just want to forget and focus on their new lives

My friend I mentioned also had a bad experience but has let it go as he just wants to move on

They also blame covid but I ran into someone who complained about how badly his shipping went and guess who shipped his items in the last 2 months

I would highly recommend you keep away from this company as in all my years this ranks in the top 3 worst company

They charged nearly 4000 pounds extra blaming freight cost and delays with poor evidence.yes almost double and will ransom your goods

It is shocking how they get away with it but they seems to target people who are moving countries and know less likely to chase with the ombudsman

Oh they will also say they are part of associations and let me tell you complaining to this associations are useless and they know it .
