Long-distance move from Ontario to Quebec

Major overcharges against initial estimate. 6 hours late. Holding goods hostage. Missing and damaged.

Major overcharges against initial estimate. 6 hours late. Holding goods hostage. Missing and damaged goods. Ignoring my claims and screening my calls. They claim they can't find my contract, as they seem to say about every claim they receive. They have been screening my calls, since every time I call now no one answers the phone. They haven't returned my call after I've left several messages. They won't respond to my emails. They won't address my claims form, submitted several months ago. Missing/Damaged items: Cracked caster wheel on beige 3-drawer desk with folding leafs - replacement caster wheel $10 Metal bed frame glider feet were taken off and not delivered - replacement glider feet $20 White metal desk hardware were missing from shipment after pick up crew disassembled the desk - replacement hardware $10 OTHER ISSUES: Quoted 567.00, but was charged 1442.70 in the end. During initial estimate, I asked how much more it could be if the quote was off, and he said probably not more that a couple hundred dollars Pickup was scheduled between 1-3 pm. At three I phoned and was told they were backed up and would arrive by 5:30. At 5:30 I phoned and was told they were just leaving Mississauga on their way to my place so it would be about an hour with traffic. At 6:30 I received a call from an affiliated company saying the previous truck was too full so they were dispatching another truck to come to my place and they would arrive at 7:30. The pickup guys didn't leave my place until 11:30 pm. I was told by the pickup guys that I could choose which time they delivery occurred in Montreal, since I was the first to be dropped off. I said as early as possible, or 8 am. My boyfriend arrived at the apartment to receive my stuff, and waited around for hours. I wanted to be patient, but by 12 pm I had to call and find out what was going on. They didn't arrive until 5 pm. I was told by the delivery driver the final price and was absolutely shocked. He said I could pay in cash, but none of us were able to get that much cash out of our banks. I asked if I could pay Landmark by Visa the following Monday, and he refused to delivery my stuff at that point, getting really rude with me over the phone. He told me I should have been in town to receive my stuff, not to have other people receiving it for me, and he said I "wasn't taking the move seriously enough." When I mentioned that he was holding my stuff hostage he got really mad at me, saying he was "just a moving guy making $12 per hour." Then he started bringing up Fido contracts and gym membership protocol in defence of what he was saying, at which point I was completely confused as to how that even related to the situation at hand. I told him he was incredibly unprofessional to be arguing with a client of Landmark over the phone, as it wasn't his place to do so. He was on speaker phone so that my friend Sula would be a witness to what was going on. My boyfriend and friend were there to receive my stuff and were floored by how rude this guy was. He told them he would drop the stuff off on the street, but the two of them would have to bring it upstairs (despite the contract saying door to door delivery). My friends both said that the delivery guys were absolutely horrible. They were unnecessarily slow, at which point my boyfriends had to start moving boxes for them. I have contacts at CBC and have been offered a chance to bring this issue to the Marketplace program if I the situation is not remedied to my satisfaction. .

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Alberta

Do not use this company.

- As soon as they collected the $100 deposit, they would not respond to my calls or e-mails. - I called few days before the expected pick-up date to check on pick-up time and they told me they will only know the day before the pick-up. - I called the day before the expected pick-up date, to be told they can't make it and that the pick-up will be delayed 4 days, past our flight out from the pick-up city which was not acceptable. - We had to find another alternative for this move at the very last minute?? - They did refund the deposit 3 weeks later. - Can't rely on this company..

Long-distance move from Ontario to Nova Scotia

Worst company EVER.

Thanks to Landmark Van Lines I received all of my items 11 days late, broken, and some of it even missing! Worst company I have dealt with in all my life. They are helpful as anything until they get their security deposit. After that it becomes evident that they are nothing but a set of unprofessional, disrespectful, ignorant and lying fraudsters.

Pick up and drop offs are late, and attempting to get a hold of them after they get your money is laughable. You are either placed on hold so long that you are forced to hang up, put straight to voicemail, or told that whomever you wish to speak with is not available. There were times I even called, spoke to someone, called back, and was told there was no one working there by that name!
Delivery will be late. Weeks late, despite any guarantees or promises otherwise and to get around this issue and avoid criminal charges, they find any loophole they can in their contract. Once you finally do get your things, it will most likely be broken, or missing, and the "total" you must pay will be much higher than the original quote you were given. If you do not pay, you do not get your things. In my case, I was quoted 650 dollars. My final total came to over 1000, although, I only needed to pay 750 after hounding them to credit me with my promised student discount and a "customer appreciation discount" for the inconvenience (please note: these discounts did not come easy. I phoned the company almost every day, multiple times a day, complaining and asking for money back).
Still though, when it came time to charge my card, they attempted to pull out the full 1000. Thank God I had put a 'stop payment' on anything over the agreed upon amount!
Despite paying this agreed amount with no qualms, I still received my things eleven days late forcing me to sleep in motels and on my floor. I have received no compensation for this, or for any of my things (thus far) that arrived broken beyond repair or went missing.
And of course, they deny ALL of this and attempt to talk their way out of this with empty promises or, in some instances, aggression.

I could go on and on about the horrible experience I had with this company, but the take home message to all is to avoid this company like the plague.

The police officer I spoke with regarding the situation described this company as extortionists, criminals, and cheats, who employ sneaky tactics and blatant lies to ensure that charges cannot be pressed outside of the civic sphere. I have filed claims against all items that are broken or lost, and will be following the case through to civil court (if not fully compensated) and pursuing through the BBB (Better Business Bureau). I filed my claims two ish weeks ago and the only result is that they've blocked me from all social media and refuse to return my calls or messages.

Long-distance move from Alberta to British Columbia

The worst Movers from Landmark.

This move was absolutely horrible. Deposit was collected and we were booked at least 2 month prior to our move. The mover arrived without adequate supplies an after 2 hours of packing they run out of boxes.Over the phone I give descriptions of the size of the house 4 bedrooms and and a full basement. Yet they didn't know that they will need to bring 2 vans. We were packing a house until 1am in the morning. Than the saga began on arrival of the vans, dispatchers lost the truck of the vans and fed us unbelievable stories. When finally one van arrived most items were damaged. Movers didn't have tools. Most items were not packed or wrapped properly. All Lamp shades were damaged because they were just thrown in a box a other items were thrown on top. Dining chairs have stains, they were not protected and wrapped as it should have been. Glassware not wrapped, broken glasses and cups. Apple computer was damaged during the moved, screen shattered, box springs and a king size mattress is broken on one side. Book case damaged. Non of the boxes had indication which room it belong to and the list goes on. Out hundred of dollars of damage company is willing to pay 150 dollars, only in the emails. Haven't received money yet, since May. This company need to be taken to court and shut down.

Great Experiences.

Great Moving Company to work with.
This is the third local move with these guys and have had no trouble with them, as I seem to have read in some of these other reviews. The movers were extremely helpful and explained everything to me every step of the way. Some of these reviews I read are ridculous. It's moving people, your stuff is bound to have a scratch or two. If you moved your stuff by yourself you would have damages to. I do need to stop by and have a cup of coffee. Thank you guys for all the great moves. I have and will continue to recommend Landmark VanLines.

Long-distance move from Quebec to British Columbia

Unreliable moving company.

We had a very terrible experience with Landmark.  The pick up went smoothly however the drop off was a disaster. We were moving to BC and starting our jobs on July 1st. They had told us that our stuff would get to BC around June 25th -30th at the latest. They also said that the driver would call 3 days before delivery. After not hearing back from them, I called to see what the ETA was. I must have called at least 8 times and every time they would push back the delivery date and say that it wasn't their fault. We were then told that it was absolutely going to get there over the weekend and that the driver would call us 1 day in advance. We didn't hear anything until the following Monday morning when the driver called me at 730am right before I was going into work and told me that he was going to be here in an hour and I had to be home because he had other deliveries to do and was leaving town. The driver never got my updated number and was apparently trying to call me over the weekend. This is an awful excuse because although I did change my number, I emailed the company with my new number and spoke with them TWICE over the phone to make sure they received it and would send it to the driver. The delivery truck finally got here on June 13th - 2 weeks after the scheduled date. This company is impossible to get a hold of and not very helpful over the phone. Also, our boxes were destroyed. I Would not reccommend this moving company. .

Stay Away.

ABSOLUTE 3RD CLASS, UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, LYING, SET OF FRAUDSTERS.

They'll come after you like a pack of hungry hounds for the deposit, then you will not be able to even get hold of them. They'll either be on a lunch break or you'll be kept on hold infinitely. Email replies.. Not a chance!

If it goes well, it goes well but if once something goes wrong it's just good as hell.

STAY AWAY.. STAY AWAY.. STAY AWAY!!

No show.

In spite of paying a deposit the delivery crew didn't show up at the date and day scheduled. MY DEPOSIT WAS NOT REFUNDED YET. NO APOLOGIES EITHER.

The company refused anu further contact. The person that was responsible for my move was Mr. Mark Grism, Sr. Relocation Specialist.
No alternatives, apologies, or inconvenience payments were ever offered.

Long-distance move from Ontario to Quebec

Very bad movers.

DO NOT use Landmark Vanlines for your move. They will charge you a lot more than quoted and more weight that your effects acutally weigh. Above that, they will never provide you with the scale ticket because they do not weigh the trucks. They estimate the weight very generously and make you pay, saying that they will refund you after weighing the truck, which they never do. They take advantage of the stress of moving to make you pay more.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from that company. You will have to pay a lot more than you think. There are, I am sure, many other companies that will do it right for a lower price.

Scamming customers.

After being almost to the point of being harrassed by Matthew to book with the company, they sent a quote which was not satisfactory I.e. detailed at all.  They then proceeded to charge my credit card prior to sending me an updated quote with specific information I wanted, with the excuse that accounting had to send the quote. Since when does an accounting dept. even do quotes. They would not answer at all any of the questions I asked specifically if they were covered for workmen's comp. etc. I have contacted Visa to dispute the unauthorized charge to my card and am going to pursue it further in small claims court due to the complete disregard especially when scamming seniors. The constant harrassement from them until they can grab your money is inexcusable.  Avoid this company like the plague, they are NOT looking after your interests at all. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THESE GUYS, THEY CAN'T EVEN ANSWER THE SPECIFIC GENERAL QUESTION RECOMMENDED FOR ANY PERSON THAT IS MOVING TO ASK. Google their head office, ask about their own trucks, where do they store your items, .. absolutely nothing forthcoming. I did not use them, would never recommend them and after using several other companies these people shouldn't be in business at all.

Poor Claim Service - SCAM.

My delivery arrived Jan 29th 2016. Everything was destroyed. I tried to work with them on the claim, it's now June 19th 2016 and I'm being given a run-around for the last 5 months. Zero dollars paid out after months of calls and emails (all documented). I would NEVER RECOMMEND OR USE THEM TO MOVE GARBAGE TO THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY.

Move from Nova Scotia to BC.

The problems I encountered with Landmark are to extensive to write about. In short, there quote will increase greatly for no other reason then the fact that they have your goods on their truck. They will not open the doors to unload until they have sucked you dry. Terrible dishonest company. Beware and stay away.

Move from BC.

The trouble is my daughter signed the contract with Ryder, who used Landmark, and charged for THREE times the actual weight. She weighed every item.
What is the sense of having regulations and a BBB if they allow companies like this to exist?
This is simple theft by another name!
