Solid Team.

Last week I hired GEM Movers to move our 3 bedrooms. Dispatcher over the phone was very helpful gave me great suggestions & tips for packing & moving. On the day of moving team showed up on time. Nicely wrapped Grand father clock & moved our upright piano with care. Guys worked  continuously without any brakes. 2 strong guys Manni & Dev did excellent job. I recommend them to everyone.

Not very pleased.

The movers were absolutely great, however, the dispatcher Tony at Hamilton branch needs to learn that he's in customer service position. He was rude and arrogant. I would have given it 5 star if it wasn't for him.

Very very bad and unprofessional.

Holy cow! What a horrible experience. Make yourself a favour: do not even consider using this company. In retrospect, we read all the comments again and we can only say that we broadly agree with all the bad ones. In particular, whenever the comment receives an answer, whatever that comment says, explains a similar experience to the one we had. It is a very bad company. Stay away. However, I will provide details for you to see what type of scam you are running into when you hire these guys.
Here some details:
1) They show up on time, make us sign a contract with a 150$ deposit. Showing up on time is a relief: two days before the move they called and told us they'd come the day before we had agreed.
2) They start unscrewing all the furniture, move everything to the truck. No particularly fast, but not slow either. They ask us for tools. Every now and then they are on the phone, talking. It is not bothering me at that time.
3) We agree to meet in the new place (about a twenty minutes drive).
4) It takes them over an hour to show up.
5) When they arrive, they say that we have to pay them in advance, with an estimate they make on how long it is going to take. Their estimate is longer than what I expect, and I say we prefer to pay at the end. A very unfriendly person, who seems to be the boss, gets to their phone, they pass him to me, and the gentleman starts yelling. Since all our stuff is on the truck, I agree and pay. They say they will pay back if they stay shorter than agreed.
6) They start moving things inside the new house. Extremely slowly. I wonder what is going on: I catch the movers sleeping in the truck two different times. I say I am not paying for them to sleep, and they reluctantly go back to work. The majority of the moving happens with their phones between their ears and their shoulders. They cannot stop talking on their phone, eventually getting annoyed with the person on the other side, and stop working for a good ten minutes at a time.
7) They start assembling furniture. They only work if I am next to them, watching. Over an hour to re-build a piece that I had built in 20 minutes when bought new from Ikea. I now have two wooden pieces that used to belong to that bed on the table. The guys told me that "they were not necessary."
8) They rebuild the sofa. At the end, two more pieces "are not needed either." Metallic ones, this time.
9) A quick look at everything they brought: a broken lamp, a number of pillows with a weird, black, sticky substance that we have no idea how to take out (our guess is it comes from the truck), and the four pieces that "are no longer needed" from our furniture on the table.
10) It takes them about twenty minutes more than the time I had already paid. I told them: between the extra time it took for you to arrive, the two times I caught you sleeping in the truck, the badly assembled furniture, the broken lamp, the extra times doing nothing.. I let you go now without asking you to give me a refund. That angry boss on the phone again, asking me to pay him for a whole more hour. I explain everything to him, and he would not reason, he would stick to the song that I get to pay them for one full more hour. I am still shocked.

Epilogue: One of the guys left his jacket in the first house --- the house the distance of which is twenty minutes away, but that took them over an hour to do the first time. Although angry, I tell them I am going to pick it for them. It takes me 20 minutes to arrive. I had left earlier than them, so I expect I will have to wait for them with the jacket in my hands. They were already there.

Awful.

Shouldn't even have one star. They were 35 minutes late, they didn't even know my name to ask for me at concierge. within that time of them being late, my roomate and I moved ALL OF MY FURNITURE down. When they arrived they walked around stunned even though all my move was already set up for them. Roommate and I proceeded to move the things into the truck and then one of the guys was missing, when I asked where the other guy was,, was told he was in the washroom (fine, he's human but he was gone over 20 minutes- literally paying for this man to take a s**t ) called the owner to arrange deposit and he changed it from $150 to $200. Tony made up an excuse that I must have spoken to another worker about the deposit but he's got a very annoying ride voice that you won't forget. Argued it and said I would pay the rest once it's done. Took about 15 minutes for me, roommate and 1 slow clueless mover to load truck.the truck was a mess. Moving blankets in bundles all over the back I had to go rearrange them. When we arrived to my location 20 minutes later they wanted more money. I said I would pay once unloaded . They closed the truck door with all of my things in it refusing to let me get in for my belongings. Was going to call the police.. Tony called me screaming at me. Called me a bitc* and an idiot. I couldn't deal with these morons anymore so agreed to another 70 because he didn't want me to call the police (tried to charge more if I didn't threaten with police) by this time it had only bit over one hour roommate and I did 95 percent of move AND I HAVE A BROKEN ANKLE . Their service was USELESS to us. We could have rented a truck instead since they barely did anything other than trying to keep getting more money .. Just found out that they are unlicensed. The movers literally don't know how to load a truck or maneuver items. They are not trained movers. I had paid 200 dollars for a bag to cover my mattress and they ripped it off to move it into the room. Its all a scam, I had to send money through online banking so they wont pay taxes on it too. It's not the movers fault, they are his puppets who was receiving calls every two minutes and told to close the truck door with my belongings in it. , owner Tony is a dirt bag . Stay away!! Let's see what he replies to this.. He continues to reply to bad reviews that he's never moved so and so with that name. The dummy never took my name and couldn't even give it to concierge. There's no way on God's green earth that this guy has five stars. I think he works his workers to the bone while he sits on his lazy rude scamming a** and writes good reviews about himself. He's a disgusting human being. Who talks to clients like that?. Roommate wanted to go meet him in person and put his brainless head through the wall. Will report to BBB and CRA. Can't wait to see Tony the SUMBAGS reply LOL..don't use his company. Just stress AND a scam. NOTE TO TONY.. WANT TO CALL ME A B*TCH AND IDIOT? DO YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT THAT? I HOPE SO BECAUSE MY REVIEW IS GOING TO LOSE YOU ALOT OF CUSTOMERS AND MONEY YOU HUNGRY MONEY DIRTBAG. get some class you uneducated dirt bag!

Highly recommend.

I genuinely recommend GEM Movers, they are really good. They provide professional and fast service and they know how to organise your stuff to move efficiently.
I called GEM Movers 2 weeks ago, their contact info was online. Two persons batth and Jassi with all the tools for assembling and disassembling stuff and a truck was on scheduled time at my place in Brampton. The two guys wrapped our furniture and load it carefully in truck without any damage to house and furniture although it was bulky. They packed all stuff and reached our new Home, disassembled furniture perfectly. I thought it would take 6 hours atleast but everything was done in just 4 hours. I highly recommend their work for perfection.

Horrible movers beware!

Customer beware of this company!!
Horrible service and they refuse to work if you don’t agree to their upcharges.

I was quoted $75 an hr for two professional movers + $75 for travel time to be added to the number of hrs.

I had a garage full of furniture that I and a friend moved from the house to the garage (we sold the house and we’re moving). All that was needed to be done was move the furniture four feet to the ramp and put it on the moving truck. The hard part of moving the furniture up n down stairs was already done.

The weather was cold so I also decided to stay and give the movers a hand if needed.

The movers arrived at 10:00 am - not at all enthusiastic or ready to work. I told them that everything was already in the garage ready to go that just two mattresses from inside and some table chairs would be left to move. When I asked them to remove their shoes they refused and proceeded to drag snow/Salt on our hardwood floors saying that it was policy to leave them on. I said ok, but at least wipe your shoes ( I was surprised at how unprofessional the driver was). The driver was really rude, the other employee didn’t speak much- he told me he didn’t know any English whenever I said anything to him. I have to say he seemed like he was just doing what the driver told him.

We headed back outside to begin the job. I could see right away I would need to stay with these guys. The first peace of furniture the driver went to move, he was really rough with and dragged across the front of the driveway to the ramp. I told him you have to lift this or use a blanket, that it was an expensive peace.
They moved 3 boxes and a half of an armoire into the truck when they then told me they would need to charge an extra $100 per item that is heavy. I told them I want told this or else I wouldn’t have hired movers. This was only 20 mins into he move. They called their boss and proceeded to waste 40 mins trying to haggle me $80 then $60 saying that for $60 one worker wouldn’t be able to help. They went on and on the phone to the point I was like this is a joke and a waste of my time.

When I spoke to Tony the original owner their boss that booked the move he also tried to upcharge me.

I refused to pay their upcharges and just wanted these two guys off my property.

I had to pay $140 for these two guys that looked like they never moved furniture a day in their life to come to my house and try to upcharge me and make me miss a day of work.

I hired another company that came 2 hrs later and moved all the furniture without any complaints. The new company I hired wore shoe covers and was very polite. It took them a total of 3 hrs.

OVERAL A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND WASTE OF MY TIME. Luckily other movers were available to complete the job or closing on our home would have been delayed.

Please do Not Ever Hire G.e.m Moving - Ontario!

PLEASE DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY!

All emails and phone calls between "Tony" was a quote for 2 hours.
No where in his quote did he mention they charge $1 a stair..they also have many other "hidden" fees!

The 2 men showed up 10 minutes late. Clocked in. Than asked to use the bathroom. The other man stood outside not moving anything. Once the other man was done in the bathroom (5 mins).. he than went outside and started to 8-point turn on our lawn - DRIVING ON THE SEPTIC TANK and over a TREE! Thankfully he did not sink the truck costing $$!

This was at least 15 minutes than finally the men started to "work".
I was the one running up and down the stairs with all my bins, computer desk, book shelf, a treadmill, deep freezer etc. One stood in the garage while the other the truck. When running things out to the men I noticed they were even looking through MY BAGS to see what I had packed - HORRIBLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!

When we arrived at the destination within 1.45hr - 15 minutes left to unpack the truck, the driver STRUGGLED to park the truck. They asked if I can go knock on my neighbours doors and ask them to MOVE their vehicles because the man was "UNABLE" to reverse the truck. (He should have easily been able to - NO problem!)

Once parked on the street..they REFUSED to open their truck until I gave them CASH for 4 HOURS!! (The quote said they accepted MC and Visa).
I WAS SHOCKED! We got there in 1.45hrs- and they REFUSED to give me back my furniture until I paid 4 HOURS in cash! I called "Tony" who than YELLED at me and my neighbour on the phone in his language (non-English), and using profanity and calling us names.

THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE - They saw a single woman and took advantage. They had no RESPECT for my property. They don't know how to drive their truck and they are slow horrible movers.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - Don't hire them!

Lot to Say.

Book the move with Tony a while back. Almost a month ago over the phone. He sound professinal & asked me lot of questions & encourage me to ask more about company services & policies. Staff was on time, hepful & courteous. Overall was a positive experience. Tony told me almost everything except that they don't accept personal cheques. What that's managable and I paid by credit card at unloading. Last time I have big comapny moved me, were very slow drag their feet. Lifting a one box at a time. These guys were quick. They were incredible and would definitely recommend them and book them again.

Don't use this company!

Just needed one large piece of furniture moved from one house to another (literally a 10 minute drive)….
First, I was called by the company at almost 10 pm (!!) the night before to see if I would agree to a later time than I'd booked - was impossible on my end - so we agreed to the original time, but the truck was over an hour and a half late anyway - multiple phone calls to Tony and the one driving the truck, kept being told they would be there "in 5 minutes", or "10 minutes" - They went to the wrong address (despite me telling everyone the correct address from the very beginning & over and over again!) and then they took NO responsibility for that. They backed the truck up over the side of the lawn. They wouldn't touch the furniture until I gave them $150 up front and then they wouldn't bring the furniture out of the truck until I paid the rest of the money - which was more than we'd agreed upon at booking!! I called Tony to argue the price, especially considering their lateness and overall ineptitude of the movers. He then spoke to the men, and they told me I could pay the lower amount, but then the rest "would be taken out of their personal pay"..I mean, come on!! That's extortion!! Of course I'm not going to make lower wage workers suffer - they both stood there looking sad, so I paid the full amount (which was ridiculously high considering the very small amount of labor involved!).
It seems Gem also has some positive reviews - maybe it depends on area? Or the luck of the draw? But I will never use their services again!!

Long Distance Move.

Mover showed up on time. I will give them a 4 stars because few things I like to mention here that one of the mover were not wearing uniform. Another thing was they brought only 3 wardrobe boxes where I ask for 4 at the time of booking, so I have to make a extra boxes. They did a fast job. They worked continuously without wasting a time. Overall service was above the average.

Babysitting grown men.

Came late, complained of having to be here, tilde the were tired and did t want to work more than 3 hours, even though contract is minimum 4 hours I have to pay for. Tried to call their boss to LEAVE within the first 20 minutes.

Slow, lazy, unprepared. No door stoppers, only 1 dolly, no rollers.

Dragging their tails at ever opportunity. Had to constantly nag nag nag nag at them to keep up, not stand around, get off their phones, stop sitting..

Left a bad review on Google, then when they kept my bed frame on their truck and I asked for it, buddy on phone literally tells me with a straight face "you get bed back when you change review"

Yup.

Scammers do not hire.

If you’ve done some research on the business practices of this group you’d run far away and quickly .

I had a 3 furniture move 20 km . It took the 60 mins from start to finish . They charged me $430 for the hr and would not issue a refund an apology NOTHING !

The owner leaves it up to the movers to fight his battles and they hold peoples belongings ransom for the opportunity to charge the customers twice .

The positive reviews they do have are very obviously written by friends and family .

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Totally dishonest , stress causing and no MORALS whatsoever .

How they are still in business is beyond me and I’m reporting them to BBB,.

Gem Movers saved my life.

I was in an abusive relationship & needed to get out last minute & fast.
It was a Friday night, just after New Year’s Eve & Gem movers was the first number I found online.
They answered the phone on a Friday night , holiday time.. were very professional, reliable , & made me feel safe at a very scary & stressful time & confirmed they would arrive at 930 am Saturday morning, & there were right on time.
The two sweetest ,most wonderful ..actually more than wonderful men came & moved me fast.
I don’t know what I would’ve done if I didn’t find their phone number on that dreadful night.
Gem movers saved my life.
I believe someone from above was looking out for me when I found them.
They made everything so easy & made me feel safe , due to their professionalism and reliability.
I will be grateful for the rest of my life.
Thank you Gem movers..if I didn’t find you that night online last minute & if you weren’t so reliable & able to help me out last minute.. I may not be alive today.
Forever grateful.
Thank you.

GEM Movers.

In my 65 years ( and 21 moves in my life) I have never experienced such unprofessional, lack of effort and disrespect towards our furniture and members of our family. In my opinion the people that showed up to move us were late, rude to my family and found one of the workers looking through one of my drawers he was moving. They held us ransom to load and unload, not agreed on in the contract as one was not produced. If you value your furniture DO NOT move with these imposters.

DO NOT HIRE

Terrible moving company and service. I hired them for a small move (couch, love-seat, 2 chairs, a painting, mirror, lamp, carpet and wall hanging.) I was quoted $100 for the truck and $80 per hour for the movers. They were suppose to arrive at 2pm and arrived at 6pm -- four hours late. When I phoned Tony to inquire he told they would offer me 10 per cent off of the labour costs. The loading and driving (from Hamilton to Toronto) took a total of 1 hour 50 minutes hours. When they arrived they told my manger it would be $840 before they unloaded. She said that was crazy and she phoned me. They then said $475. I phoned Tony and he told me it was 4 hours plus the truck. I explained that is was currently less than 2 hours and it would only take another 20 minutes to unload (we have a private freight elevator, we are on the second floor and the elevator is located right where the truck was parked). When I tried to explain this to him over the phone of course there was a heated discussion! I was not going to pay for 4 hours, when it was going to be less than 2.5 hours. He then told me there was a 3 hour minimum! I am not sure why he was originally trying to charge me for 4 hours or why his drivers wanted $840. I also had to remind him of the 10 percent discount that he had promised me. My manager took a photo of the inside of the moving truck when they arrived and there were no coverings on any the furniture (all leather) and the painting was wrapped in plastic wrap (thank goodness) but it was just sitting on the top of the back of couch. There was absolutely no respect for the furniture or for our time!!!

I used Gem after being let down by two moving companies earlier in the day. Despite calling them last minute, they were able to accommodate and their movers arrived ahead of schedule which was great. The two movers, Harman and Chandan, were amazing!

They worked very quickly and efficiently and made sure to carry all of my belongings with care. The price is very reasonable and I would have no hesitations using them again and recommending them to friends!

Beyond Satisfied!

I have moved a numerous amount of times in my past and have never been fully satisfied with the companies I have chosen. I decided to try out GEM Movers for the first time and they are by far the best moving company I have ever hired. Tony, who is the owner, provided me a straightforward quote - there weren’t any hidden costs! He also accommodated to my last minute move which I greatly appreciated. My move consisted of 4 location stops. The two movers who came out were as pleasant as can be. They didn’t complain, completed all the stops with smiles on their faces and got the job done so quickly as well. They insured all of my belongings were wrapped and loaded safely into their truck. All of my belongings were dropped of without any damage whatsoever.

I am beyond happy and impressed with GEM Movers. This was not an easy move but they accomplished it seamlessly!

I highly recommend this moving company a million times over again :)

Gem moving

I wish I could give zero. I spoke to the owner Tony for booking and he told me that it will be $250 for 2 hrs and $80 thereafter. Also told me that for a 2 bed apartment with just one ikea couch, no dining table and about 10 boxes and a few non heavy small pickups, he said 2 hrs shd be fine. Booked for 2 hrs for next day. The labour arrived 1.5 hrs late and no apologies by owner or the labourers. Infact started asking for $250 advance which I refused to provide due to past bad experience with another mover. The labourers deliberately kept stretching time, didnt use dollies, handpicked single single boxes to delay things. Thereafter deliberately didnt take the highway and took a longer route to my delivery place. Upon arrival ( it was 2.30hrs that time), started asking for $410+ taxes (4 hr cost) upfront or refused to unload. There was still 1/2 hour left in 3 hrs I to unload but they wasted time arguing (my delivery place was a house, not a bldg and 1/2 hour was sufficient to unload). Very disrespectful owner, changed his words and started arguing. I fought but of no use. In the end, I agreed to pay them for 4 hrs as I wanted to get out of this situation quickly but noticed that they provided me a rough paper receipt with no HST number and asked me to pay HST, which I refused. Finally after fighting, got him to send me a tax invoice on email.

started telling me that he doesnt prefer to deal with me in future which is a joke of my life. The guy doesnt deserve business from customers. I would never want to work with him and will never ever recommend this company. Thorougly unprofessional.
