Long-distance move from Massachusetts to Ohio

G&M Moving and Storage.

G&M just completed a move of 20 pieces of dining room set from Massachusetts to Ohio.  Michelle contacted me readily to make arrangements and then again to reassure me that all was in order. Mr. James Johnson and his assistant wrapped and loaded our extremely heavy furniture with tremendous care. They were a pleasure to work with. Delivery was almost immediate (arrived 3 hours after we did!) --again with workers who knew what they were doing--I'm not recalling their names. But they were friendly, courteous, careful, and even took away the extra cartons and tape.  The relationship/arrangement between G&M and the booking agent, TRUE King was very unclear.  TRUE King was the culprit here. People should know that if they find G&M through a booking agent, the over-the-phone estimate is NOT real (although in my case it happened to be because I was shipping less than the minimum).  That was the first information Mr. Johnson shared with me.  He was to make the estimate then and there, and only after all was done would it be binding - in other words, they may have encountered additional costs. The phone estimate does not include any packing materials (I did have to pay an additional $85 for a crate ).  Nor does it include cubic feet (i.e., whatever the weight, cubic feet can't exceed a certain amount). And cubic feet is figured by truck space not actual cubic feet--i.e., if a piece is unstackable, it's more cubic feet.  Anyway, none of this was explained to me--so now I totally understand the negative reviews that had made me so nervous.  Fortunately these problems didn't affect me and I reiterate that my interaction with each step of the arrangements, pickup and delivery was highly professional and even fun. The difference between the quote and the service cost was the tip (at both ends) and the crate fee. .

Local move from Lititz, PA to Mount Pleasant, PA

Items Stolen.

This company moved us from PA to SC in December 2018. The only complaint I have about the moving/packing day is that the price continued getting higher and higher, much higher than what had been quoted to us earlier. But we went along and paid what they requested. However, upon delivery of our goods in SC, several of my designer purses were missing. Two Louis Vuittons and one Gucci were among the most expensive. I also had a Coach and a Tory Burch. We don't know if it was the packers at our PA house or the unpackers at our SC but someone stole them. We have filed a claim with movingclaims.com and will see what happens. No way I'll recoup the money spent on these purses. :).

Long-distance move from Germantown, TN to Tampa, FL

Rogue mover all the way.

An interstate household goods moving broker is not a moving company and is not held to the same legal standards as a moving company. An interstate household goods broker is any person or company who, for compensation, arranges, or offers to arrange the transportation of property by an authorized motor carrier. 49 CFR § 371.2(a). An interstate broker provides estimates for household goods transportation services to potential consumer shippers. The motor carrier selected by the consumer shipper to perform the moving services must agree to adopt the broker's estimate as their own and follow the terms and conditions as estimated.

G & M failed in all aspects of this codicil.

This is the epitomy of " bait and switch" and misrepresentation. This is what as known by the Federal DOT as a rogue moving company, contracted by an alleged mover, who turned out to be a broker , out of TN. I should have done my research before, but circumstances prevented it. All the "You might have a rogue moving company if.." 5 reasons, which ALL applied.
I got an actual, physically estimated binding estimate from North American Van Lines, that a G* from the "movers" in TN, stated " send me their estimate, I'll beat it". I foolishly did, which he recreated verbatim on their letterhead, but much lower, again on a BINDING, NOT OVER, estimate. The next day, a "representative" called, again without seeing any of our items, said he was QA and revising their inventory, raising their price approx $400 more. We had agreed to order their original service. On moving day, a half full, rented Ryder truck showed up, with 3 men, 2 who spoke no English. They rapidly taped and covered our items, placed them on our front lawn, breaking our door , not having enough space for our shipment , damaging numerous items, and stated they would arrive at our destination in 3 to 5 days, since we would not be at the destination until day 2.
It was delayed over 10 days and the " subcontractor", G&M Moving of Bayonne NJ, "Stefon", says he didn't know where it was, somewhere between NJ and Florida, which didn't make sense, since the route did not involve New Jersey.
He stated he had no idea why "the broker " had given us a delivery date and to deal ONLY with him.
I will be filing a complaint with the Federal DOT, ICC and possibly reporting our items stolen, as no one seems to know where they are.
The then designated "broker" updated us to " it's in a warehouse in North Carolina now" and "might be there by Saturday, the 10th". They increased our price an ADDITIONAL $2000.
They are basically held our goods hostage, at their leisure.
It arrived in the same Ryder truck, same packing order, dirty leaves and damaged items, missing items, and the driver attempted to extort an additional $600 to unload the truck, to which I replied, "hold on, I'll call the Sheriff's Office". Stefon immediately was contacted by the driver, and advised his driver to unload.

STAY AWAY FROM G & M MOVING OF BAYONNE NJ.

Do Not Use.

DO NOT USE. If you are considering using this company and/or Moving Forward America I cannot warn you enough to stay away. This company in conjunction with Moving Forward America was unresponsive, unreliable, and just unethical once you start working with them. Not only will they lie to you about pick up and delivery dates but they will also ask for more money every step of the way. ALL CASH!

We were told the driver would be arriving, on his way, or coming this afternoon for 5 days before they actually arrived and demanded more money.

Do not use this company, especially for long distance moves. I question whether any positive reviews are even real.

DO NOT accept. Run!

I have been dealing with these folks for over a week. If your moving broker says that they're going to use, G & M Moving, RUN! DO NOT accept them as the sub contractor!! They left 1/3 of my household goods in the NJ warehouse on my move from Burlington, VT to Chattanooga, TN. We're going on Day #8 and I still don't have the items (and entire sheet of over 55 boxes of goods!). I have called, left messages, written emails and no one has responded. Great business practice! Why they didn't remedy their mess up and send my goods on a truck the next morning is beyond my comprehension. In addition, the broker, Rte 66 Moving, have been just as inept and incompetent in solving the problem and delivering the items. Rte 66 has been absolutely useless! I still don't have 1/3 of my household items and it's Day 8 from the original drop off day. RUN!! Don't do business with these folks!!

If I could have left 0 stars, I would have!

Long-distance move from Virginia to Missouri

G&M Movers

G&M Movers wee selected by our broker, Priority Relocation, unbeknown to us. They showed up 6 hours late for the move, discussed prices (which had already been negotiated by our broker) for 2 hours and did not finish moving until midnight. They came with a truck that was obviously too small to fit all of our stuff in it, made a hugh hole our basement floor that costs $3176 to fix, stored the furniture instead of moving it and held it for over a month. We moved on June 24th and it has not left our state of origin yet-It is now August 2, and they still will not get me a moving date. Avoid these guys like the plaque-they are crooks!!!

TERRIBLE PEOPLE- TERRIBLE SERVICE

I am so shocked and enraged.Movers didnt have the COI when they came in, 4 people rampaged my apartment completely unprofessional with their pants half way down. I was estimated 2200 and the mover estimated 5,000 which is an insane jump in price. I provided a complete inventory when i received my first estimate. They ruined our apartment floors and walls- left all their garbage behind. Now that its time for delivery- they are completely MIA. They dont answer phone calls or texts or emails. I keep calling during their office hours and no one picks up so i tried using *67 to hide my number and low and behold WOW they pick up and give me the biggest attitude on the phone about trying to check on the ETA. I swear these people are in a business to destroy lives. Don't use them, whatever you do, or else you'll be stuck in a crap situation that will make you want to kill yourself.

Long-distance move from Concord, NC to Alcoa, TN

No communication or straight answers

The moving company (general moving and storage) used them as the third party delivery people for my items. I have been waiting 13 business days so far when I was told it would be 1-7 due to only being 253 miles. For the last 5 business days I have been playing phone tag between the two businesses and no one can give me an actual answer. Two days ago G&M said my delivery will be Friday (today) yet when I called this morning they said they had no record of anyone saying that. I went through their head carrier to try to save $800 when after all the add on charges I only saved $200 and still do not have my items. Guess you get what you pay for. Learned I need to do better research.

Long-distance move from New York, NY to Los Angeles, CA

Nightmare. The driver was a LIER and RASIST

They were HORRIBLE.

They took over 1.5 month to deliver my stuff from NY to LA, which is over beyond their "maximum estimate time."

And I asked the driver for the fastest delivery, he told me it was gonna take 6-12 days.

Although that driver picked up my stuff was really kind and good person, I personally evaluate him very highly, the nightmare started after that.

My stuff didn't arrive after 1.5 month. How would you spend your new life without any of your furniture and appliances? This terrible time broke my back, and I lost my precious time for work because all of my equipments were in the truck.

I called the movers (United Moving Company) many many times but they barely pick up the phone. If they do, you can't expect anything. You can't contact to the carriers... which you're supposed to be able to but they NEVER picked up the phone...

The movers don't have the ways to contact the carrier, this is really a stupid and irresponsible system.

When finally they arrived, there were many confusions, the driver changed the schedule many times and they didn't tell me they only accept cash and paychecks, but because of their too late notification, I had no time to prepare them.

The driver guy treated me like a garbage when he realized that I didn't have cash. (Which I negotiated a few ways to make it up) He lied to me, tricked me and kept cursing me with RACISM WORDS. I cried on the street and people saw it. I have the voice memo with me.

But they still NEVER APOLOGIZED to me about it.

So so so bad.

I need them to show me some respect at least.

And they should refund some money for causing massive delay, breaking my back, causing trouble on my work, and for hate crime he made.
