Cobra Van Lines

We are in the midst of a hellish experience with this company. Our items were picked up Oct 9 & Oct 10 and were told our move will not take that long since “people are moving from California to Texas all the time.” Two weeks later, I started calling them and they said they had “21 business days to deliver” per the contract. That ended Nov 9. They delivered maybe 1/8 of our items on Nov 13 and it did not bring our beds or safe I asked for. They will not give us an ETA on when the rest of our items will be delivered. I have asked to speak with their manager but no phone call. I have filed complaints with the BBB and the FCMSA. I will be calling media and various state attorney general’s offices for help.

I would NEVER have booked with them. A moving broker did it so always ask if they are using Cobra Van Lines. Do not book with anyone using them.

Unprofessional, rude, late, no communication or follow through, does not follow the 7-14 days for a 1700 mile move, does not even follow through with the 21 days. For some reason, the broker can’t seem to get them to do the job. Problems all over but started with an extremely rude woman when the move was loaded. She is doing all this, I know.

I still don’t have my property and they won’t schedule our move. 14 business days and they have done nothing. Our move was 7-14 days. That is it. When are they going to start paying for our hotel since we can live in our home. When will they start paying for meals since we can cook?

That is all I can say for now since I STILL have no idea when I will see my property, but these words come to mind...bait and switch, extortion, unprofessional, very bad. Why a broker would ever use them is beyond me.

I gave them my move-in date 2 weeks in advance. They said my stuff was a few miles away and it would be there on move-in day. Despite repeated requests they neVer sent the insurance documentation required for move-ininmybuilding. The night before I moved in they called me and told me stuff is actually on the other side of the country. Oops. I have now been living in an empty apartment for six weeks, calling them twice a week and can’t get a straight answer or any information out of them. I’ll be calling my lawyer within the next few days. DO NOT HIRE THEM

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $3400

If I could give this company negative stars I would. Took a month for my belongings to be transported from PA to TX. Then when they finally showed up the driver wanted to charge me $75 to take everything up stairs. According to the contract, 1st flight of steps free then after that there's a fee. I live on the second floor so only 1 flight. However the driver refused to listen to me, keep getting in my face to call corporate ( umm, it was Saturday after 5). Finally in frustration I accidentally hit his hand. So he starts going ballistic, next thing I know corporate is calling yelling at me for hitting the driver (not even giving me a chance to explain). Finally they convinced the driver to unload which he did onto the front yard, so we had to carry everything upstairs ourselves. As we're taking things up, I realize that the driver left things that weren't ours. I immediately sent an email to corporate (again it was Saturday after 5). I sent a follow up email Sunday and another email Monday. In addition I called Monday and spoke with a rep who said they were aware of the issue and would get back to me. Finally I get an email today from them asking if I had received belongings that weren't mine....Hello, Ive been contacting your company since Saturday about that. So I call and the rep first asked about my experience to which I just had to laugh. Then she's like, well we've been trying to reach you about belongings that may not be yours and you haven't returned our calls (1 call yesterday while I was at work). I was like...umm, what more did you want me to do. I contacted your company 3 days in a row and you're giving me attitude about not returning your 1 phone call. In addition, since there were items that are not ours, clearly that means some of my belongings are somewhere else. DON'T EVER...EVER USE COBRA VAN LINES.

Move size: Studio Service cost: $2200

I had an intestate < 500 mile move. I was told it would be 14 days for my things to be delivered. Long story short after several phone calls demanding a date when my things would be delivered I was told to be patient and they would give me 24 hours notice. I got 4 hours same day notice on day 28 by the driver. I thought they nightmare was over, NOPE! ALL my undergarments ( at least $400) GONE. Customer service was no help they just ignore my calls. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Awful company. Bait and switch movers. I received a quote to move from Indiana to Fort Myers, Florida. For pick up May 27. Truck arrives 2 days before closing on our house. The truck was too small. The driver charged us for 1900 cubic feet and the truck only held 1800 cubic feet. He told us the estimate was off and demanded an additional $3700. With no back up company we paid. The driver ask for our preferred delivery date. We said June 5. Nine weeks later our belongs arrived. The company sent an email stating the balance due is an additional $3278. If we did not pay they would not unload.

A simple, estimated 3-4 day move ended up taking 31 days, during which I had absolutely no idea when Cobra was planning on completing the delivery or even if they had any intention at all of completing the move. It was by far the worst experience I ever had, they offered absolutely no assistance whatsoever and didn't seem to have a care in the world. I cannot even begin to tell you how frustrating it is to have no idea when you'll get your life back.

This was such a horrible experience, there are so many better alternatives out there.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $2500

They were supposed to come early on Dec 31st 2020. They didn't come until 2pm. o course there wasn't enough time to pack the truck. I had to be out of the house early on the 1st so I had to leave and hope they came back and moved the rest. while driving to my new location I got a call from my neighbor who stated a lot of items were left on the side of the house. When I finally got my items, a lot was missing and much more damaged. When I made a claim thru the claim company, they offered me 48.00. Before they would deliver, they forced me to pay an additional $3500 or they wouldn't give me my property.

I could not believe the number of damaged or crushed items that came off their truck, and several pieces were missing! They only pay you 60 cents per pound per damaged item, unless you pay a much higher price for their services. And they will come up with some reason to make you pay extra in the end! Both at pick up and delivery, I had to pay $760 and $500.

They also suspiciously did not want to leave any paper trail of the money they receive, insisting I pay in cash. They would not accept my debit card, so I had to wait until the next day to get them a money order, and they tried to take my receipt, too. The postal office told me , “Absolutely not. Those belong to you”! Pay for legitimate, well known movers! Cobra is crooked (no paper trail), and could care less about your items.

Anyone who uses this Company needs a Guardian. You have to be crazy to use them. They want to extract the most amount of money and give you the least and most horrible service. The truck came ten days late, with a dead beat driver who did no work,and then tried to hard sell a tip out of me. Boxes had been torn open, furniture damaged, pieces missing. I made the mistake of using a BROKER, National Van Lines, who hooked me up with this dreadful outfit. National Van Lines never disclosed that they were a broker who owned no trucks, and themselves did no moving. They took a commission for arranging the move with the worst possible moving company, Cobra Van Lines. I am not usually that stupid. People need to make a complaint with the Interstate Commerce Commission to put this lousy company out of business. I am.

Move size: 4 Bedroom Home Service cost: $16000

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING WITH Budget moving company, Navistar Van Lines and Cobra Van Lines. WARNING TO ANYONE MOVING OUT OF STATE. I went in search for a company to move me from Colorado to Michigan. I thought budget was a good place to start because it is reputable and well known. When requesting a quote for my move from Budget somehow my quote was outsourced by another company called Navistar Van Lines. When I asked why they reached out opposed to Budget their response was because Budget was overbooked and they handled the overflow. Later I found out that Navistar Van Lines is not a moving company at all but a broker. They are assigned to bring in business at any cost and collect a non refundable cashiers check deposit. Navistar lied to me about multiple things throughout my booking including the estimated cost for my move. They quoted my one room very small move at $1800 and collected half up front in certified funds for the non refundable deposit. They under quoted my move $1700 just to book my move and collect my deposit. ALMOST DOUBLE! At that point Navistar transferred me over to Cobra Van Lines the day before my move. Cobra were the actual movers. I did not speak to them until they arrived to pick up my things. Once they loaded my belongings they added fees for stairs, distance from the truck to my front door and a packing box for my TV that was wrapped in moving blankets and plastic wrapped shut. They said TVs require a box and they charged me $100 for 1 box. They charged me $200 for having to walk more than 70 feet to the truck and they charged me $400 for extra space in the truck. Navistar way under quoted for space in order to obtain my business. They also said stairs and packing supplies were free which is just not true when the actual moving company shows up. Like most people I had no choice but to pay it because I had 24 hours to be out of my apartment and if I canceled with the movers I lost my $900 deposit with Navistar. Navistar told me the estimated time for my things to be delivered was 5-7 days which was a flat out lie. They also told me that I could pay the remaining balance with a debit or credit card when my belongings arrived given the fact that I was moving out of state and would not have a bank in this state quite yet. That was also a flat out lie. When I asked the Moving Company, Cobra, how long it would take to have my belongings delivered they quoted me 7 to 14 days. Once the 14 days hit I called and they said it was contracted that they have up to 30 business days to get my belongings to the new location. They used every single one of those 30 business days. I have been without my belongings for over a month. I finally got a call from Cobra saying my belongings had been loaded onto a semi and were headed my way. They asked if a semi was able to fit in my driveway. I live 300 feet off of a main road in the middle of the woods which I informed Navistar about from the beginning. Cobra (the actual moving company) told me if my belongings cannot be directly unloaded from the semi then I would have to pay over $800 to have it pulled off the semi, put on a moving truck, and delivered. Not only that but I could not pay for it on my debit card. It needed to be in certified funds or cash. They said if I did not have it at the time of delivery, in full in either cash or certified funds, that they would put my belongings in a storage unit and my belongings would be auctioned off in 30 days. Every single transaction with my move besides the initial sign up was upsetting and cost me hundreds of dollars. Anyone who is employed by Budget, Navistar Van Lines, and Cobra Van Lines should be ashamed of themselves. They all know exactly what they are doing. They are stealing from people who price shopped and are on a budget. They are stealing from elderly people, low income people, and single moms looking to move for a better life. The people who work for this string of scams are degenerate crooks and they belong in jail. They use the fact that they are in possession of you necessities, your family heirlooms, you children’s memories to squeeze money out of you or you lose everything you own. Things that mean nothing to them but everything to you. DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THESE CRIMINALS. I am writing this in hopes that no one else has to go through what I did.

Please for the love of god do not use this company. If I was wealthier, I’d sue them for the way that they treated me. They were insanely unprofessional and rude. I was moving from FL —> PA for school. I was only contacted about pick-up and delivery of my items 16 hours in advance which is absolutely not acceptable since I had to plan when to empty my apartment and when to arrive at my new (empty) apartment. They arrived a day later than promised without letting me know until 16 hours beforehand (they assured me they’dletmeknow 2-4 days beforehand but then no one picked up my calls). Upon pick-up, charged an extra $800 (despite being late and forcing me to work harder to clean the apartment before my lease was up). Upon delivery, they kept changing the date of delivery 6-16 hours beforehand (keep in mind I had to CANCEL my flight in because they expected me to WAIT IN AN EMPTY APARTMENT FOR 30 DAYS TIL THEY DELIVER — my furniture has been sitting in a warehouse near my Florida apartment for 1.5 weeks). Then when they finally arrived, they charged an extra hidden fee for a “shuttle service” that no one agreed to. And then more for elevators etc — in the end I paid over twice as much as expected. I signed the contract for $1850 and ended up paying well over $4000. For the extremely rude customer service (especially Heidi at CobraVan lines and Jennifer at National Moving Services) and hidden fees and late delivery/pick up, this has been the worst moving experience of my life. And I hired them to make it easier. I wish I just packed my stuff up myself, so please save your money and go somewhere else. I wish I could sue these companies but I hope you all see this and put them out of business.

Charged over $8,000 more than estimate. Rude staff, bringing me to tears every time I had to deal with them. Required several different types of payments at each stage-credit card, money order, postal check??, including requiring cash at the end. They were supposed to start move on a Saturday, but called and said couldn't until Monday. Fine- but arrived over four hours late, without calling on that day. Arrived with a truck that was way too small. They knew we had a 10 X 10 storage unit, as well as the house items to move. The truck could only hold the storage unit and part of the first floor furniture of our home. They were supposed to come back the next day, but did not. They didn't notify me until very late in the day that they were running late, then later revised it to we're not coming - at 11:00 p.m.! Showed up hours late on that Wednesday too, without letting me know. Staff scratched up wood floors - no care taken to cover any of the floors by the mover. Broke a threshold from wood floor to kitchen tile. Stopped up a toilet. The manager was rude to me and friends I had there to help me get through it. He called me rude because I was taking pictures of any damages and I asked them to be careful with the floors because they were scratching them up.My husband could not be there because he started a new job in Ohio that Monday and they were supposed to have done the move over the weekend. The manager threatened me to stop the job and put all my furniture out on the street! Very unprofessional man!!

We thought we hired Empire Vans, not knowing they contracted to Cobra. We have tried calling many times and filed claims with their insurance company per requests. Nothing has been done to help us in one year! Do not use!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. My belongings were anticipated and agreed to be picked up on 9/23 with a delivery date of 9/25 for a move totaling 500 miles. Conveniently on 9/25 I receive a text message from the driver stating he had a family emergency and could not deliver my belongings and that an office member would be contacting me. I received no followup from the office and after several of my own attempts for contact finally was able to speak with a representative. The representative replied only with “we have no update on your delivery” there has been zero regard for customer service or empathy, no urgency, a basic explanation for why they have been unable to provide an update or any type of offer for compensation to offset the additional expenses I’ve incurred for basic living essentials as they held my entire life’s belongings ransom. On 10/5 I was finally notified to expect delivery by 10/11 (19 days later). In addition they charged me for a shuttle following the semi truck as the driver felt uncomfortable with the area of delivery. They’ve had my new address on file FOR WEEKS with no mention of additional cost for another truck following a delivery they were unable to meet based on their own employees “family emergency” I’ve requested to speak with management with no call back. It is evident that this company has held my belongings as ransom just to continue up charging me for a move that is now within an expense double what was originally agreed to. In addition, I have three diamond rings now missing, one being a family heirloom and irreplaceable.

After doing research online it appears this company does this regularly as a scam and there are thousands of reviews posted to different review websites with an identical story to my own.

This entire process has been mentally taxing, frustrating and by far the most horrific experience I’ve encountered with any company. Better business bureau rates this company with a “D”. I will be pursuing this incident further with my insurance, BBB and my credit card company.

These guys are amazing. They handled my furniture with care. Everything was perfect. And they are really good guys. They have a heart I was so stressed out from having to make this move and they made it so much less stressful. They were professional, kind, considerate, and they really made me feel that it was all going to be good. And it was more than good. It was smooth and perfect I am grateful to these guys. Certain experiences stay in your heart forever. And if everyone ran their business with the same caring attitude that these guys have the world would be a much better place.

My wife and I could not have been more pleased with Cobra Van Lines. The team leader, Alex, showed up with his team exactly on time which, in itself, gave me a positive feeling from the very beginning. The team worked like a well-oiled machine, moving boxes and furniture from our 5th floor walkup apartment to the van on the street with impressive speed and with the upmost care. Every suggestion I made was greeted with a smile and executed flawlessly. My hats go off to Cobra Van Lines!

I haven’t had to use a moving company in years, however, I found myself needing to move out of temporary housing while I wasn’t even in the city. After getting bids and talking with several moving / packing companies I found the team and Cobra Van Lines and I am so happy I did. They were responsive, helpful and very understanding of the circumstances. They supported an unattended move through video chat and did it all quickly and professionally. Then they shipped my boxes to me by my preferred carrier. The boxes arrived and everything was intact. The best part - was the tape! They used tape that doesn’t use a sticky residue. It is the little details. I can’t recommend them enough!
