Long-distance move from California to New York

Cali to New York.

Thank you century VanLines for making my move to New York the best experience possible I thought moving that far would be a nightmare I have moved a couple times but never this far but century VanLines made me feel reassured that it would be ok. Their workers are very pleasant guys, they are hard working and they handled my furniture with care. Thank you I will recommend them to anyone.

Long-distance move from California to Oregon

Unbelievably awful experience - ALL AROUND.

I STRONGLY advise against entering into business with Century Vanlines – NV. They are a low volume, poorly organized, dishonest, and disreputable agency with no sense of moral compass or remorse. STEER CLEAR. I decided to work with Century Vanlines NV, based on their claim that they could deliver within 3-5 days. They assured me that the 21 day terms were simply “legal jargon” there to protect them and that they could deliver in 3-5 days. “Your stuff is being loaded into a truck and going straight to Oregon. It is our first drop off, there is nothing that could delay your move, sweetheart, other than a flat tire or a car accident. The night they picked up my stuff they arrived 12 hours late, at 8PM and they worked until 1AM. I was very uncomfortable as a young woman, alone. As they were leaving, I asked "Headed to Oregon?" they replied  “No way, we’re headed back to Vegas, your stuff is going into storage until we have a truck headed to Oregon.” The next 3 weeks were hell. When they finally arrived, 20 days later, they had lost my kitchen table, my lamp and one of my boxes. 7 items were broken, my mattress was filthy and misshapen, and my bed frame was missing a critical piece that made it impossible to assemble. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! I called the manager and told him “Sir, the claim I file with your department should be the least of your concerns. I am going to contact the BBB and the Interstate moving authority. I am going to write about this experience on every social media and review site I can find. I am going to make sure as many people as possible hear about this experience, because I refuse to let your poorly run, sham of an organization do these injustices to another person because I chose to stay silent. You are going to regret to cavalier attitude and lack luster efforts you put in to help me these last three weeks – YOU HAD NO IDEA WHO YOU WERE SCREWING OVER." So here I am, first review of many to come. Again, STEER CLEAR.

Made a great choice.

I was very concerned about my furnitures but specialy about my grand piano but they took really good care of it .wreping and crating on the spot , they had all the intennded packing supply on the truck witch saved a lot of running around..    I had to call a  couple of times to  find  out when it would be delivered.  the office was very helpful , The  man that finally delivered it was wonderful and very helpful and kind. I would use them again.

Long-distance move from Washington to Connecticut

Thanks for saving me a bunch of money!!

I am originally from Spokane,Washington. But decided to move out east for work. Now I live in Hartford, Connecticut. Unfortunately my mother passed away and I needed some of her heirlooms to be transported to my house in Connecticut. I thought to do it myself with u-haul and was going to make the long journey back. But then decided to see how much would it cost me to hire professional movers to move the items and I would fly back. So I got a call from my friend Shawn over at Century Vanlines and boy was I happy. He explained to me that the gas alone would cost me about $1800 and that was not including all of the state tolls and other expenses, and to rent the truck was $1300.So I figured why not lets give him a shot.He assured me that my mother's irreplaceable items would be properly blanketed and cared for and I felt great. He was as good as his word. My items arrived without a scratch, I am so happy. I even offered to send him a gift card, which he declined. Overall I am elated with the good work.

Long-distance move from Idaho to Minnesota

Great Price And Excellent Cutomer Service.

Hi Guys,
I am not really one to write reviews, but after the amazing job that occured I just couldn't help my self. I am over 50 years old and must have moved across state lines at least ten times before. In all my years never did I come across such a great sales rep. His name was Shawn and he really did a great job. I am a little hard of hearing right now and he explained everything to me, mulltiple times. He was very patient and I knew I was in good hands. When the guys showed up they were professional and treated me with respect. The quote I recieved over the phone was the exact same amount that move cost me. Like I said I am not new to this and had my share of terrible experiences. Some ruined my items, others hiked up he price. None of this happened with Century Vanlines. I am extremely happy with their customer service and prompt delivery time.  Thanks!!:).

Local move within California

Nothing went right!!

I was promised a quote on my move and of course it was $500 more than what was agreed. The company charged my bank account twice for the original deposit, which over drew my account by $100!! I've talked to customer service several times and they have yet to do anything about it! My delivery was supposed to arrive on May 9th at noon and I didn't actually get it until May 14th at 5:00pm. The driver of the truck didn't even work for the company and he has to find his own help to unload. The help he found never showed up, so I had to unload the truck myself! At least 35% of my items were broken beyond repair. All of my things were mixed up with someone else's belongings, so who knows what I'm missing! I hurt myself trying to unload a big truck by myself. I couldn't reach anyone at the company, so I was forced to pay my balance of over $1300 for broken items and doing all the work myself. This is the worst company EVER and I will not stop until something is done!! I had my little girls crying because their stuff was coming off the truck destroyed! I'm so upset with this company and will never refer them to anyone!!

Long-distance move from Arizona to Nevada

Unprofessional Service.

WARNING ABOUT USING CENTURY VANLINES! IT'S NOT HAPPY MOVING WITH THIS COMPANY! The sales man told me he would be there for my whole move not true..When I called him to report it he would never call back.  The whole moving experience was bad.. they called and tried to show up earlier then scheduled giving me a two hour notice when they were supposed to show up the next day. The guy filling out the bill of lading tried to get me to sign blank forms I told him I don't sign anything blank..they filled in codes that said my furniture was chipped/scratched I told the mover that's not true he said they have to fill it out that way to protect themselves so I made a note on the contract before signing. Very dishonest practice on their part.  Had a hard time getting a set time for delivery days were always moved. TOTALLY DISORGANIZED COMPANY.   Delivery was a real DISASTER THEY UNWRAPPED THE PADDED FURNITURE ON THE PAVEMENT which scratched and chipped all of my solid oak furniture. Several pieces of my furniture and my bed frame came up missing..I had pictures of everything so called and e-mailed the pictures to costumer service..they then conveniently found them. When the mover delivered they tried to stuff and force my three seat sofa through the door my friend who was watching had to coach them how to get it through the door..some of the movers did not speak English..the movers definitely were not trained movers.  They plopped my queen size mattress and box spring on the bedroom floor with out the frame and left..I had to call customer service to find my frame and have them come back.. They did a poor job assembling the furniture..very sloppy unprofessional job all the way around. BOTTOM LINE I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF RENTING A U HAUL AND HIRED MY OWN PEOPLE TO LOAD AND DRIVE IT MYSELF AT LEAST MY GOODS WOULD BE IN TACT AND GET FROM A TO B ON TIME! AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER! PAID WAY TO MUCH FOR STRESSFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL CARELESS SERVICE. WILL NEVER USE THIS SO CALLED MOVING COMPANY AGAIN!  I FILED A COMPLAINT AND REVIEW WITH THE BBB ALSO! THEN CENTURY VANLINES CAME BACK WITH THE ANSWER THAT I WAS NEVER A CUSTOMER! SO I SCANED AND SENT THE BBB MY CONTRACT. ATTORNEY GENERAL NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIER DISHONEST BILL OF LADING PRACTICE AND THE LABOR DEPT. AND IMMIGRATION NEEDS TOO LOOK INTO WHO THEY HIRE! WILL BE MY NEXT COMPLAINT.  .

Long-distance move from California to Tennessee

Unprofessional.

I not one to take the time to do reviews. I just feel lIke the world must hear of my experience.  Century Van Lines Lines are the most unprofessional and dishonest company I have ever worked with as well has did not take care of my stuff.
First they failed to put in the contract the 5% fee for using a credit card which I told them from the beginning I would be using. They tried to spring this on me on the day of pickup. The guy moving me says - oh by the way - there is a 5% fee for cc. Also we all know that cc fees are only 2.5-2.9%. So they make money on the fee!  When I addressed the owner Ron- he yelled at me then tried to apologize and then said he was going to change the contract ASAP.
They get my stuff to storage and the leg on my couch - there is a big chunk taken out of it as well as the frame is broken. They also lost a piece to my designer chair which is needed to sit on it. When I addressed the owner Ron - he said oh it was just a nick on the leg and that's it. He yelled again at me and then hung up on me.
His professionalism is completely out the window. I will never use this company again. I'm complately shocked at the way he yelled at  me twice and was hung up on.
My cc company is helping me to try and get some money for the damages but who knows how that will turn out. If I can keep one person from experiencing what I did then this review is worth it to me. .

Long-distance move from Nevada to New York

Great price and excellent customer service.

I needed to move from Nevada to Washington for a new job. I also needed all my stuff packed and everything moved into my new apartment in Washington. I called century for quote and they gave me an unbeatable price that I could not resist. When the time came to pack all my stuff and move it to my new apartment and they were very careful with all my fragile stuff. they stuck to their word on pricing no changes and no extra charges. I have nothing but great things to say about this company I would definitely use them again also I highly recommend them.

Long-distance move from Texas to New York

Great Service.

I'm trying to start a new life in NY and I had a lot of things that I needed and wanted to take with me. My sister suggested Vanlines to me because she had used them previously when she moved to NY and she had no problems with them. I have had bad experiences with other moving companies in the past so I was a bit nervous. However, thankfully they were reliable and careful with all of my possessions. Everything arrived on time and in great condition. Plus, they were considerate of my needs and worked quickly. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs a moving company.
