Long-distance move from Delaware to Kentucky

Move to Kentucky was great!

I must admit that I am so thrilled that it was Zip to Zip Moving Services that facilitated that relocation and not any other company. I would have possibly landed on one of those cash orientated movers who would do anything for money. Instead, they turned out to be the executive relocation crew who were out to offer exclusive relocation services and nothing more. They showed up ready to work and didn't even stop but once for lunch, we have 3 bedroom home and they packed everything up within a reasonable time. With all their heart, they relocated me to Kentucky. It was a flawless and resounding move. .

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire

Fraud Alert!!

They start off on the phone as very friendly. Kate said the move should be no problem. She asked for a list of items I wanted to move and prepared a list from that. I asked if they would come to the apt, but she said that wouldn't be necessary. Original estimate with a shuttle truck was $1850. That is when the good stuff ended.
Edison came to the door on moving day and noted that this was much more stuff than the original estimate. I pointed out that nearly everything was on the sheet. In addition, I had already moved 2 SUV loads. He estimated $5000. He eventually went down to $4000 (I will bet his boss was proud of him). I will note they did $475 worth of packing and materials which I thought was not unfair. However based on my description, Kate estimated 510 cu. ft. and the actual claimed was over 900 cu ft. Of course they want to be paid in cash. At delivery, the company execs (Tim) would not talk to us nor did Kate return any of my phone calls. They were willing to leave with the truck full of our goods if we did not pay.
The movers themselves were nice and competent. However, I am confident Edison knew what he was doing when he walked in and immediately started explaining to me why it would cost so much more.
The dishonesty of the situation is that they know you are on time deadlines. You are either giving up a lease or closing on a house. They have you and they take full advantage. Moral of the story is cheapest is not always the least expensive. This company lies with a smile while they pick your pocket. Only thing left to do is sue. I am willing to bet that any of the favorable reviews were written by company hacks.

Long-distance move from New York to Washington

Interstate Move From NY to WA.

Please resist from using zip to zip. Our experience is as follows:
1. Started with a man called Taylor, he took inventory of our stuff and gave us estimate saying that actual cost might be +-20%. We went through the estimate several times and he assured us that there will not be any surprises.
2. The movers showed up and re estimated and told us that our actual cost is circa 300% more than Taylor sworn over the phone that it will not be more than 20%. This is where our dilemma started. We have already arranged for that day to be our last day in NY, flying out of NY the next day, sold house and new house owner ready to move in two days later. All these we shared with Taylor.
3. Called Taylor when the movers told us our actual cost was 300% more, Taylor said " I just used our tool to calculate the cost based on the inventory list you have, those movers will see the stuff and know how much cubic feet your things will take and they are pretty accurate" He didn't even care about the situation they put us into. We later called the warehouse Manager named Joe to know if he can assist in re-estimating and adjust the cost. Joe game us the rudest service you will ever receive from somebody that called himself a manager in a service company. Joe told me I was wasting his time and should not be talking to me and hung up the phone on me. Even a front line customer service agent in any company knows that hanging phone on somebody is the rudest thing to do.
3. We were compelled to accept the new cost which was ~ 300% over the budget. We thought that was the end of our problem. Well unfortunately for us, that was the beginning of our predicament.
4. After that day, we never hear from Mr. Taylor. We called him several times to find out the exact date of delivery, no response. Sent him an email, no reply. One day a lady named Kate called saying she got our mail to Taylor, that she will find out when the delivery will be made. What an excellent customer handover Taylor!!
5. When Kate finally called back, she said " I don't know the exact date, I will give you the driver's phone number and name, you contact him and find out" Really? I have to be calling one person to another to find my delivery date? You can't get internal company information and pass on to customer? The worst thing is that from Taylor, Joe another guy named Mike, they are all not qualified to be in service business and I believe that is what trickled down to build the bad culture in the company and they pass this to customers.
6. I later called the driver. On the day of delivery, we met another surprise, they added $980 to our cost, saying we have to pay for U-hual truck to transfer our stuff because they came with 18 Wheeler that won't drive up to where we live. They off loaded our stuff, 2 of the dinning seats leg were broken, couch leather - torn, 1 end table leg- broken, clocks, wall frames glasses - shattered, one travel box with our valuables - lost. When we were identifying these, the movers kept saying " hope you have insurance, just call them" I was like, what kind of folks are these? Who cares about customer experience in this organization. Oh I forgot, the last payment must be in cash or money order. No personal check, bank check or wire transfer. These are signs of company that knows that they don't satisfy customers thus always looking for non retractable form of payment.
I will advise anybody to resist from using this company unless you enjoy having frustrations and horrible experience. The company has the worst culture you will ever get from any service organization.
I kept thinking is there any government agency that have to investigate this company?

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Moving.

The sales people were nothing to be thrilled with. They DO NOT come to your home! So, the estimate will be higher than you expect.
On a great note, the actual moving men who showed up on moving day, were awesome!! Saheed, the gentleman who did the actual manifest and estimate was perfect; he was polite and professional. Gary and Carlito who did most of the heavy lifting were also gentlemen and extremely careful with all of our furniture and belongings.
Al (3) men worked non stop for 6 hours. I highly recommend asking for them and using all of them to move you.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Georgia

Horrible Experience.

Hiring Zip to Zip Movers to move my things from NJ to GA was the second time I've ever used a moving company and it has been a horrible experience.
In the beginning, I was given a quote. I made sure I had the 1/2 the balance when the movers came. By the time the movers finished loading my things, the balance was DOUBLE what I was told. I still wonder about that. They didn't have any furniture pads and didn't even have the right tools to break down my bed. Plus, I honestly don't see how it was more than 75 feet from their truck to my front door, but that right there was an extra $150.
The movers came a day earlier than I expected, but I was fine with that, even though they got there at 10pm. My issues was that the movers were Russian and didn't have a translator. That made it very difficult to understand them, but we worked it out. First problem I came across was that the balance they were asking for was LESS than what I was told the day the movers picked up my items. This would not have been a problem if I had cash. However, I bought money orders so I ended up OVERPAYING them.
Then I had damaged items. My problem with that is the fact that the items were in boxes marked FRAGILE and some of those boxes looked crushed, like the movers just placed or threw my boxes anywhere. Broken jars, damaged pans, and a broken mirror just to name a few things.
My biggest issue with the company is that NOT ALL OF MY ITEMS WERE DELIVERED. Seriously, how do you not make sure all of a person's items are on the truck?
My items were delivered on a Sunday night (unheard of to me but I wasn't going to complain) so I had to wait until the next day to call. I finally got in touch with Kate, who was very nice about it and said she would check into the missing items (there were 3). When I heard back, I was told that they found 2 of the items and were looking for the third. At first I was told that they were going to FedEx the items to me (a bed post, which means I can't even set up my bed), a box, and a dolly. I called on a Monday and was told I would hear back by Friday. I didn't and called the next week. Then I was told they were not going to ship them but were going to put them on a truck that was headed to my area.
It's been over a month (items were delivered on 7/17 and it's now 8/20) and I still don't have my things. Every time I call, which I have to call because Kate has only called me back once, I'm told that they are still waiting for a truck to head to my area and that they still haven't found the 3rd missing item.
Maybe my experience would have been different if I had a local as opposed to a long distance move, but I'm very upset and disappointed. First of all, none of my items should have been left behind, I shouldn't have overpaid, and they should have taken greater care with fragile boxes. Then to still be waiting for items over a month later has been a huge inconvenience to me. I do hope I get my things soon, but I may have to call my lawyer soon, because this is beyond ridiculous.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to North Carolina

The worst experiance.

Took nine days to receive my stuff, when they told me it would be 3-7 days, most likely three!! reason was the dispatcher said they did not have a driver?? Broken bed frame(which I found out later that day) no one mentioned it when they put together, broken knobs off of chest of drawer, thing's bent and dented, boxes and furniture upside down(very obvious when wheels are on top? everything inside boxes all shook up(like thrown around, big digs and scrapes in boxes!?broken items inside, furniture has scrapes and digs on it..I have many pictures of the damages,if the two delivery guys did not leave so fast(i tipped them well) I would never of paid in full!! The sales person Rich was very informative and very nice, the customer service was horrible.

Long-distance move from New Jersey to California

Don't trust them - they rip you off.

Ok.. first the positive - I used them for my move to West Coast from East Coast and all my household goods were delivered without damage or issues. The delay was acceptable. Unfortunately, that is the only positive part.

Now the entire story: Alfred from ZiptoZip called me up after I had put up an online query. He spent a lot of time doing an online estimate and also to explain (through company snapshot federal website) why they are good because they are actual movers with 18 trucks and not a broker. I accepted them as United/ MayFlower and Allied were beyond my approved budget for move.

Before I approached them; Allied, United and Mayflower already did an in-home estimate (as against their over the phone estimate) and gave me quotes against around 380 cu. ft. of household goods. Z2Z estimate over the phone was similar but they said that they are going to charge for 500 cu. ft. - their minimum. The deal was within budget and so I accepted. Meanwhile, Alfred moved out and Taylor was assigned my job.

The moment I signed off with credit card payment; the tone of voice of my moving coordinator (Taylor) changed. He was not accepting my calls; was not his usual friendly self. etc. etc. I kind of ignored that as this wouldn't have bothered me. On the day of the move; the trucker (Steve Cruz) came and he said that my goods had incorrect estimate and the correct estimate is around 700 cu. ft. that's 200 cu. ft. more and means around 1000 dollars extra. I was taken aback. But my flight was the very next day and I didn't have time to bargain or counter them. The guy also mentioned that they charge the extra cu. ft. at higher rate but he is going to do me a favor and charge the same rate. At that time, I was feeling too ripped off to check that he was lying and the contract doesn't mention extra rates for extra luggage. Anyway, after they loaded the truck; he showed me that the 'job' has occupied multiple slots and is indeed around 700 cu. ft. It was a complete lie - he didn't bring a measuring tape and the goods were not kept in stacks for me to check the actual measurement.

After I moved to my new location and called them to communicate my new address. Taylor never picked up the call; he didn't respond to phones. I tried several no. including the general office numbers. Their website was not working so I had not means to contact them. I even tried their dispatch number that is mentioned in the federal website for moving companies. Finally, a lady (Kate Perez) called up after a week stating that she is returning my call. I was upset but she didn't bother to apologize. Then again there was complete blackout and no communication. I was not sure if they had dispatched my goods or what has happened. All the calls went to voicemail; emails were unanswered and website was not working. I was quiet anxious and thought my goods are lost for ever.
However, they did pick up the call a week after one fine afternoon and told me that my goods are out for delivery and gave me the truckers details. The day before the actual delivery the trucker mentioned that my home doesn't have parking for trailer and so they would send another shuttle (read; would charge me another 700 dollars). I screamed at him and demanded to talk to the dispatch. Every other day, I see United and other moving company semi-trailer around my house delivering. So I immediately understood that they were trying to rip me off. I left voice mails to the office. and also emails mentioning that they are trying to rip me off. Needless to say, none were returned. What irritated me more was that they took all the decisions without calling me even once. That's a strange way to show how you care for your customers.

Anyway, the next day the dispatch called me up and I told him that I take the responsibility of the parking of his 53 foot semi trailer. Thankfully, he didn't argue much after that and scheduled the trailer for delivery. I also called up their office and the lady did acknowledge that she is aware of the issue (but strangely enough did not bother to return my call/email.)

Finally the trailer arrived, when they opened the door to deliver my goods; I found that all my goods were squeezed in 300 cu. ft. space! I have taken pictures of that. They have robbed me 400 cu.ft. in actual (and 200 cu. ft. in papers as I already committed to 500 cu. ft.). The long carry rate (Since my apartment was away from the stairs) was double of what was in their original estimate.

I called them up in their office and also emailed and demanded a refund of the 200 cu. ft. - the lady in the office said that she would have dispatch return my call. Its been a week and am still waiting for that call! I have even sent an email today hoping that it would be answered tomorrow.

So my advise would be to not seek their services - they are essentially dishonest. And their communication skills are worse than a 1 year old. I can never forget the mental anxiety they gave me by not bothering to communicate and charging extra and I would never forgive them for that!

I normally don't write such lengthy detailed reviews - but for zip to zip's case I am making an exception. And by the way, they came to my house with an Enterprise Rental truck and also delivered my goods through a third party mover (Delpro LLC. - Trucker name is David; they are Hackensack, NJ based). So, don't buy their movers not brokers argument! They are small - they depend on others. That's not a problem. Lying on your face is!
